Fans of Pennsylvania football will immediately recognize the name Hank Poteat. Starring in the sport across high school, college, and the NFL, Poteat has accomplished a great deal on the gridiron. He attended Harrisburg High School, where he lettered in football, basketball, and track. Heavily recruited, he decided to attend University of Pittsburgh. As a runningback \ cornerback, he made two All-Big-East teams and a Second-Team All-American as a Junior. He finished college with 136 tackles, 10 interceptions, and 1,917 Kick Return yards.
In 2000, he was made the third round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers, being drafted 77th overall. He made that years All-Rookie team as a punt returner, racking up 467 yards on 36 returns. That began a nine year NFL career, where Poteat secured a Super Bowl ring with New England in 2004-05. He ended his career after the 2009 season, after playing in 110 NFL games.
Since his retirement, Poteat has returned to college football as a coach. He's made stops at Kentucky Christian, Pittsburgh, Kent State, and is now currently the cornerbacks coach at the University of Toledo.
