On The Issues: PA Hospitals Fee Increase with Hospital & Healthsystem Assoc. of PA

Hospitals statewide pay a fee that opens the door for additional funds for their operation.  The fee, called the Quality Care Assessment, amounts to $220 million, paid every year.   Governor Wolf wants to raise the fee by 60%.  Andy Carter, President and CEO of the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of PA, says such an increase is not sustainable.   Negotiations with the governor are in the works.
