Description

Located along scenic Route 6 on the edge of the Allegheny National Forest in McKean County, Kane, PA is a burgeoning borough filled with community pride. Founded in 1863 by General Thomas Kane, the residents continue to preserve his vision of an idyllic community. Its residents gather every year to participate in K.A.R.E for Kane to volunteer for various beautification projects around town.  Residents can also gather at the town’s amphitheater for community events, yoga classes, plays, or just to meet up with friends for lunch.

Kane is best known for its outdoor activities and wildlife. While there, take advantage of a day of outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, kayaking and biking in the summer months and snowboarding, skiing, ice fishing and hunting in the fall and winter months.  If you aren’t afraid of heights, Kinzua Sky Walk should be on your must see list while in Kane.

At 1.57 square miles in size, Kane’s growing businesses are the highlight of the town. Both old and new businesses alike are thriving. This episode includes established and new restaurants such as Texas Hot Lunch featuring its local favorite “The Texas Hot” and Table 105, an upscale restaurant which fuses sustainable harvested foods with conventional favorites.  We also visit CJ Spirits, the first craft distillery in Northwest Pennsylvania. Logyard Brewing and Twisted Vine are the two newest breweries just opening in 2018. Coming soon to Kane is the 74 mile Knox and Kane Rail Trail that will pass through the borough.  Before heading out to your camping destination this summer, stop at Bell’s Meat and Poultry. Take it from the owner when he says “Bring your cooler!”
