“House of Horrors” Building Inspection, Northeast Training Institute - Bloomsburg, PA (2022): Opened in 2021, the Northeast Training Institute (NETI) is an 11,000-square-foot training facility that offers courses for home, ICC and UCC residential, and commercial code inspectors. Within the institute stands the InterNachi® House of Horrors® 3, a two-story structure with 1,000 installed defects such as miswired electricity, incorrectly installed furnaces, and badly-joined sewage pipes. NETI partners with local universities, schools, and other related organizations to provide extensive hands-on training and put new inspectors-in-training to the ultimate test.
Acutec Precision Aerospace - Meadville, PA (2017): Founded in 1988, Acutec Precision Aerospace is an aerospace parts supplier with three locations, all featuring an open architecture manufacturing floor, 3D printing, grind cellular manufacturing, and more. Their products are utilized for aerospace, power generation, and defense purposes all across the country. The company, however, remains involved in the community by partnering with many educational institutions and providing sponsorships for several local organizations, such as Toys for Tots and Women’s Services, Inc.
AgWorks at Commonwealth Charter Academy - Harrisburg, PA (2019): Opened in 2018, AgWorks at Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA) is a laboratory in Harrisburg where K-12 students are provided hands-on instruction with aquaponics. It is the largest public educational aquaponics facility in the country that trains students in various fields including agriculture, environmental science, and trade. Students can also learn how to work with restaurants on supply chain and grow more of their seasonal requests, gaining real-world application experiences.
Air National Guard 111th Fighter Wing - Willow Grove, PA (2012): Based in Willow Grove, the 111th Fighter Wing is a unit of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and has been active since January 1943. This unit provides national and international aid; it preserves peace in the United States when tasked to do so by federal or state governments, and it directly supports combatant commanders across the globe who are providing surveillance, scouting capabilities, weapons employment, and search-and-rescue efforts.
Air National Guard 171st Air Refueling Wing - Coraopolis, PA (2012): Stationed at Pittsburgh International Airport in Coraopolis, the 171st Air Refueling Wing is a unit of the Air National Guard that provides in-flight refueling of bombers, fighters, and other aircraft. This unit was activated in February 1961 initially to transport wounded soldiers and patients in Vietnam to treatment hospitals, but it was redesignated in October 1972 to participate in air refueling missions and has functioned as such ever since.
Air National Guard 193rd Special Operations Wing - Middletown, PA (2012): Positioned at Harrisburg Air National Guard Base in Middletown, the 193rd Special Operations Wing is an electronic warfare unit of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and has been active since September 1967. During wartime and contingency operations, the unit broadcasts radio and television signals to target populations and jams existing signals whenever necessary.

American Keg - Pottstown, PA (2018): The American Keg Company was opened in 2015 and currently stands as the only steel beer keg manufacturer in the United States. The company manufactures ½ and ⅙ BBL (barrel) kegs out of grade 304 stainless steel for the craft brewing industry, and offers custom embossing and silk screen printing. In January 2020, the company merged with Blefa Kegs, Inc. but has ensured, with the help of elected public officials like Former Senator Bob Mensch, that the American Keg Company remains rooted in Pottsville.
American Tinning & Galvanizing - Erie, PA (2011): Founded in 1931, American Tinning & Galvanizing began as a one-employee tinning business that grew its metal-finishing capabilities during World War II. It has since evolved into a corrosion control and metal finishing provider that services clients all across the United States. American Tinning & Galvanizing is NADCAP-accredited and offers tank fabrication, electroplating, hot dip galvanizing, anodizing, rack fabrication, machining, and post-processing.
Ames Company Landscape Tools - Camp Hill, PA (2016): Ames’ founding dates all the way back to 1774, when blacksmith and Revolutionary War Captain John Ames began making shovels for the newly forming America. Since then, his landscape tools have evolved and been used for efforts during key points in American history such as the Industrial Revolution, the construction of the Empire State Building, the Oregon Trail, and the Civil War. Ames remains one of America’s oldest operating brands to this day.
Appalachian Brewing Company Sodaworks - Harrisburg, PA (2021): Headquartered in Harrisburg, the Appalachian Brewing Company (ABC) was founded in 1997 and is best known for its craft beer. The company, however, also brews a variety of craft sodas such as root beer, ginger beer, and white birch beer. The company is the first and only brewery in the Pennsylvania State Capital since 1951, but it also operates pubs in Shippensburg, Gettysburg, Mechanicsburg, and Lititz.
Arnold Palmer Memorabilia Warehouse - Latrobe, PA (2013): Arnold Palmer, born in Latrobe in 1929, was a professional American golfer and widely considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of golf. After passing in 2016 in Pittsburgh, Palmer’s family and friends took his 19,000+ pieces of memorabilia and opened the Arnold Palmer Memorabilia Warehouse in his hometown. Just some of the many items stored there include his 14,000 golf clubs, jerseys, fan letters, medals, and numerous framed photos from both his career and personal life.
Artifaqt Metal Works - Phoenixville, PA (2021): Founded in 1983 in Phoenixville, Artifaqt is a family-owned business that designs and manufactures various items for chefs/restaurants. The company works with wood, beeswax, and metal. Artifaqt’s metal serve ware includes handcrafted bowls, serving platters, chopsticks/chopstick rests, food towers, spoons, coasters, and trays. The craftsmanship of their metal works is derived from nature and nature-based patterns like seaweed and water droplets, as well as mythical figures like phoenixes.
Artifaqt Woodworking & Casting - Phoenixville, PA (2021): Starting in 2006, Artifaqt Woodworking & Casting has been perfecting their craft! At Artifaqt wood pieces go from rough lumber to fine finish. Artifaqt is a family business centered around making, sharing food and gathering the community. Join us as we watch them and they take us through their process!
Asher’s Chocolates - Souderton, PA (2016): Asher’s Chocolates has been family-owned and locally renowned since 1892, operating under the family’s fifth generation today. Headquartered in Souderton, Asher’s offers various chocolate snacks such as fudge, chocolate-covered pretzels, assorted nuts, and sugar-free chocolates. Since its founding, the company has branched out into over 20 states across the United States and even has its products sold in stores in Canada.
Aul Bat Company - Pittsburgh, PA (2020): Before its establishment in 2012, Aul Bat Company began in Jack Aul’s garage, where he handcrafted baseball bats for his son Joe. After Joe successfully used his father’s bats during college and after numerous subsequent orders from Pittsburgh adult leagues, Joe officially instituted Aul Bat Company LLC. The business rapidly outgrew the garage, and was moved to downtown Pittsburgh, where it currently operates. Aul baseball bats are made using a computer-controlled lathe and a laser engraving system, as well as with an inscription on the bottom of every bat: J.M.J. for Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, which reflects the Aul family’s faith and mission.

Betts Industries - Warren, PA (2021): Betts Industries is a manufacturer of lighting systems and critical components for tank trucks. Based in Warren, the company has been operating since 1901 as a family-owned business and has since expanded to providing equipment for tank trucks worldwide. Betts’ products include pressure/vacuum relief valves, manlids, accessories, and lighting systems for various liquid and dry bulk, as well as other industrial applications.
Big Spring Spirits - Bellefonte, PA (2016): Big Spring Spirits is a distillery founded in 2014 by Kevin Lloyd. The company prides itself on being a local service, headquartering in Bellefonte’s historical Match Factory and using resources from the community’s farmers and artisans. Big Springs Spirits is the first distillery in Pennsylvania and the third in the world to be LEED Gold-certified due to its environment-conscious establishment. The distillery has since expanded to three locations in Pennsylvania: Bellefonte, Seven Fields, and Sewickley.
BlueStar Ranges - Reading, PA (2010): Starting in 1880 under Prizer-Painter Stove Works, Inc., BlueStar Cooking is a cooking product manufacturer and retailer based in Reading. The company began crafting coal ranges, water heaters, heating stoves, and furnaces for several popular brands of the time period, many of which are still in use today. Now, BlueStar has since expanded to provide refrigeration products and allows buyers to customize their items’ color, cooktop configuration, and trim.
Bluett Brothers Violins - York, PA (2019): Bluett Brothers Violins was established in 1984 by Mark Bluett, a luthier and professional musician of 40 years. Bluett Brothers’ violins are handcrafted with four key aspects in mind: tone, evenness/clarity, durability, and playability. Bluett uses air-dried wood to achieve the proper tone, tap tones to ensure evenness as the instrument is being carved, a strong finish on the instrument to protect it from damage and wear, and intonation/string height measurement to ensure the violin’s playability. Bluett Brothers also offers music lessons and apprenticeship programs.
Boardroom Spirits Distillery - Lansdale, PA (2021): Founded in 2016, Boardroom Spirits is headquartered in Lansdale and is a family-owned distillery. Offering its own Boardroom brands, the company brews its own beers and cocktails, as well as partners with privately-owned label brands including celebrity Chef Robert Irvine’s Irvine Spirits. The distillery also offers tours that show visitors how gin, vodka, whiskey, and other spirits are made, and has private event capabilities.
Bollman Hat Company - Adamstown, PA (2011): The Bollman Hat Company was founded in 1868 inside of a former whiskey distillery in Adamstown, and has remained headquartered there since. It is the oldest hat company in the United States, and one of the oldest operating hat factories in the world. The hat company prides itself on being employee-owned, and has many headwear brands including KANGOL, Betmar, Bailey, Eddy Bros., Country Gentleman, Betmar, and Helen Kaminski.
Boyer Candies - Altoona, PA (2023): Founded in 1936 by Bill and Bob Boyer, the Boyer Candy Company is an American candy company headquartered in downtown Altoona, and is best known for its chocolate products. The business began during the Great Depression in the Boyer’s kitchen, where Bill made the candy and his mother and sister hand-wrapped it. Boyer Candy started out by making fudge and nut clusters but as demand increased, so did their product selection. Some of Boyer’s most popular products include the Mallo Cup, Clark Bar, and Clark Cups.
Braskem America - (2013): Braskem America is a petrochemical company headquartered in Philadelphia, and is the largest petrochemical company in the United States and the world’s leading biopolymer producer. Created in 2002, the company manufactures plastics and chemicals for housing, food, and transportation purposes in the United States, Brazil, Germany, and Mexico. Some of the chemicals that Braskem produces include polyethylene, polypropylene, and chlorine.
Byers' Choice Figurines - Chalfont, PA (2011): Originally founded in the 1960's, Joyce Byers, Created Byers' Choice Figurines. They have been creating Christmas figures for years and perfecting the technique. Known for their Caroler set which is greatly popular around the holidays. Join us as they show us their process!
Byers’ Choice Museum - Chalfont, PA (2012): For 40 years, Byers’ Choice has been handcrafting Christmas caroler figurines and has since opened a museum dedicated to exhibiting their work. The Byers’ Choice Christmas Museum includes a short film about Byers’ Choice’s history, showcases of hundreds of carolers and kindles, and an observation deck where visitors can watch the figurines be brought to life.
Cantor Designs - Stroudsburg, PA (2011): Founded in 1987, Cantor Designs is a creative consultancy that provides expert advice on design, marketing, and digital presence with a strong emphasis on brand building. The consultancy has provided professional guidance for companies like Microsoft, Downy, Wendy’s, Marriott, and Pfizer. Some of Cantor Designs’ services include content strategy, public relations, logo design and implementation, consumer research, and packaging design.
Cardinal Pool Systems - Schuylkill Haven, PA (2011): When Cardinal Systems was founded in 1976 in Warren “Mickey” Bradley’s home garage, the company’s primary focus was on manufacturing. The operation quickly grew from two to 36 employees, resulting in their relocation to a 15,000-square-foot facility in 1984. Cardinal Systems has since acquired various brands and companies, including Quaker Plastics and Fox Pool. The merger with Fox Pool in 2018 has since helped Cardinal Systems dominate the pool industry and has enabled its extension into Pennsylvania and Canada.
Carrie Blast Furnaces - Rankin, PA (2011): Affectionately referred to as “Carrie,” the Carrie Blast Furnaces are a historical landmark just outside Rankin. The site was officially declared a National Historic Landmark in 2006 and is what remains of Pittsburgh’s dominance in the steel industry during the 20th century. The blast furnaces were built in 1884 and operated until 1982, producing at least 1,000 tons of iron daily, and stands as one of the few surviving pre-World War II blast furnaces.
Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) - State College, PA (2013): The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) is a public transportation system established in 1972 and is headquartered in iState College. This mass transit agency services State College and surrounding areas, including The Pennsylvania State University, and transports over 24,000 riders weekly, most of which are college students. CATA also oversees the operations of other public transportation services in the area and is responsible for determining local transit policy.
Chanticleer Garden - Wayne, PA (2011): Chanticleer Garden is a public botanical garden that stretches out forty-eight acres across the grounds of the Rosengarten estate, and is located on Philadelphia’s historic Main Line. The estate was built in 1912 for Adolph G. Rosengarten Sr., the founder of a Philadelphia pharmaceutical manufacturer that produced medication for treating malaria. Adolph G. Rosengarten Jr., his son, ensured that Chanticleer would become a public garden, and the grounds were opened to the public in 1993.

Chester Springs Creamery - Chester Springs, PA (2015): Opened in 2001, Chester Springs Creamery is an ice cream shop and extension of the Milky Way Farm, which has been operating since 1902. The creamery is run by the Matthews family, who have also run the farm for four generations, and the ice cream is made using milk from the farm’s dairy herd. Chester Springs Creamery offers 48 flavors of ice cream named after the farm’s cows and also provides milkshakes and sundaes, both prepacked and freshly made.
Columbia Northwest: Aliner and Somerset Camping Trailers - Mount Pleasant, PA (2014): Columbia Northwest is a manufacturing company that constructs camping trailers/pop-up RVs. Headquartered in Mount Pleasant, Columbia Northwest sells its camping trailers under two brands: Aliner and Somerset. Aliner manufactures A-frame campers and Somerset, founded in 1967, produces folding trailers.
Conneaut Cellars Winery & Distillery - Conneaut Lake, PA (2021): Conneaut Cellars Winery was founded in 1982 by Dr. Alan Wolf, who learned the craft in Germany and experimented with winemaking for Cornell University and The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Wolf’s son, Joal, has since run the business and has been awarded numerous medals for his wine on state, national, and international levels. In 2013, the Conneaut Cellars Distillery was established, which has also won international awards.
Coolspring Power Museum - Coolspring, PA (2020): Opened in 1985, the Coolspring Power Museum showcases the history of internal combustion engine technology and its evolution. The museum houses hundreds of stationary engines in over 30 buildings and exterior exhibits, and holds several special events each year to display each of the different engines. Some of the engines include flame ignition engines, hot air engines, and hot tube engines.
Crayola Experience - Easton, PA (2012): Headquartered in Easton, Crayola opened an interactive visitors center nearby in 1995, but reimagined it in 2013 as the Crayola Experience. The Crayola Experience in Easton is a 65,000-square-foot indoor family attraction that provides 27 hands-on experience with Crayola products, such as 4-D coloring, naming and wrapping a custom Crayola crayon, and customizing coloring pages. The Crayola Experience also has locations in Minnesota, Florida, Texas, and Arizona.
Cunningham Piano - Philadelphia, PA (2019): Cunningham Piano is one of the oldest piano companies based in Philadelphia, operating since 1891. The piano company sells various pianos, such as grand, upright, digital, Clavinovas, and organs. Cunningham also provides services ranging from tuning to piano installation to restorations to rentals, and offers the Cunningham Music School which provides piano, string, and vocal lessons for all ages.
D.C. Nauman, Chairmaker & Cabinet Maker - East Stroudsburg, PA (2015): Established in 1998, D.C. Nauman, Chairmaker & Cabinet Maker is a furniture store in East Stroudsburg owned and founded by David C. Nauman. Nauman specializes in antique reproduction chairs and custom woodwork with Colonial American inspiration. The store also offers 5-day instructions for visitors to come, learn, and craft their own woodwork.
Daffin’s Candies - Sharon, PA (2011): Daffin’s Candies was initially opened in 1903 by George Daffin in Ohio; his grandson, Paul “Pete” Daffin, moved the business to Sharon after World War II and officially established it in Pennsylvania in 1949. Pete and his wife, Jean, created the candy shop’s now-famous Peter Rabbit, a chocolate rabbit sold during the Easter season, in 1962 and ultimately boosted the business to critical acclaim for its chocolate. Today, Daffin’s Candies has expanded to Greenville and Franklin, Pennsylvania, and Niles, Ohio.
Dangelo’s Custom Built - Kane, PA (2019): Custom Built Manufacturing was founded in 2006 by Derek Dangelo, the owner/founder of Dangelo’s Auto Body and Repairs since 1978. The company, headquartered in Kane, manufactures heavy duty wreckers, wheel lifts, wrecker booms, frames, and other towing accessories for the towing industry, using American-made steel and aluminum. The company also provides services such as truck frame reinforcement and custom aluminum bedside fabrication.
DelGrosso Foods - Tipton, PA (2010): DelGrosso Foods began in 1943, when newlyweds Ferdinand “Fred” DelGrosso and Malfada “Murf” Pulcino opened a small restaurant called DelGrosso’s Cafe in Altoona. Murf’s mother, Marianna, provided them with an old-world recipe she brought over to America in 1911 and the restaurant quickly became famous for its spaghetti sauce. DelGrosso began to expand in 1951, and since then has become a household name all over the United States. It is now headquartered in Tipton and is considered the oldest major family-owned pasta sauce manufacturer in the country.
DiamondBack Truck Covers - Philipsburg, PA (2019): DiamondBack makes metal covers for the beds of pick-up trucks. Some have a hinge in the middle allowing the driver to use half of the truck bed as a tool box and the other half to store everything else. Other covers allow division of a truck bed into three compartments. All cover variations emphasize easy access and security. After you’ve filled up your bed, don’t stop there. Disston Precision Saws - Philadelphia, PA (2015): Disston Precision Inc. first opened in 1840 by Henry Disston, who translated his passion for saws into a successful saw shop in Philadelphia. In 1855, Disston manufactured the first crucible saw steel in the United States, which he used to craft his circular saws, hand saws, and more. Today, Disston Precision remains headquartered in Philadelphia and offers various saw products and services such as crusher saw blades, die cutting plates, laser cutting, heat treatments, and more.
DonJon Shipbuilding & Repair - Erie, PA (2020): Opened in 2009, DonJon Shipbuilding & Repair is a shipbuilding and maintenance company headquartered in Erie. DonJon specializes in dry-docking and other maintenance services, such as barge construction, vessel conversion, and steel assembly. The company is a component of DonJon Marine Co. Inc., a marine salvage service company specializing in marine demolition and other marine engineering services.
Drunken Smithy - Palmyra, PA (2022): Drunken Smithy, founded by Greg Ramsey and Eitri Jones, is a blacksmith in Palmyra that offers a medieval flair in their products. The company specializes in swordcraft, but they also craft other custom hand-forged pieces like daggers, katars, knives, and sickles. Drunken Smithy also offers two-hour shows at events of demos and blacksmith-themed stories for the duration of the show.
DS Wood Baseball Bats - Hummelstown, PA (2017): Founded in 2009 by Rich Schwartz and Allan Donato, DS Wood LLC is a baseball goods company headquartered in Hummelstown that specializes in manufacturing baseball bats. DS Wood began in Schwartz’s garage but quickly became popular and expanded into a warehouse. DS Wood’s baseball bats became the official bat supplier for the Keystone State Games baseball portion in 2011, and has supplied professional teams such as the Harrisburg Senators.
Duquesne Incline - Pittsburgh, PA (2012): The Duquesne Incline is a transit station in Pittsburgh that has been traced back in existence as early as 1854. The station was officially opened to the public in May 1877, and was the first incline in Pittsburgh. The Duquesne Incline was designed by Samuel Diescher, an engineer and the country’s foremost incline builder at the time, who would go on to build more inclines across the United States. Since 1964, the incline has been operated by the Society for the Preservation of The Duquesne Heights Incline.
DutchWare Gear - Lancaster, PA (2022): Founded in 2003 by Thom “Dutch” Ressler, DutchWare Gear was formed after Dutch hiked the entire Appalachian Trail with a hammock. The company focuses solely on manufacturing hiking gear that was necessary and minimalist, such as backpacks, hammocks, quilts, and hardware. DutchWare also provides tarps, tents, bivys, clothing, and sleeping bags, as well as a selection for DIY hardware like fabrics, sheaths, and rope.
Elbeco Uniforms - Frackville, PA (2011): Elbeco Uniforms was founded in 1903 by the Lurio family and is a uniform manufacturer for various professions, such as law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS), transportation officials, security, correctional officers, and firefighters/fire service. Although Elbeco began in the United States and is a US-based brand, the company provides uniforms throughout both North America and Europe and is a partner with LION, the largest provider of training equipment and facilities for first responders in the world.
Elsner Engineering - Hanover, PA (2019): Founded in 1934 by Frank and Johanna Elsner, Elsner Engineering began in a former broom factory with only two employees. The company’s first manufactured product was a slicer for the potato chip industry, but they quickly grew into creating machines that manufactured cigar boxes, fruit-packing automaters, and more. Elsner also designed the Och’s snow plow, a jute roll former, and more cigar box machines. Today, the company has over 3,000 machines operating in 60 countries worldwide.

The company not only works with clients inside the United States but also collaborates beyond its headquarters with race engine builders and tuners from Germany and Italy.
FMC Technologies - Erie, PA (2013): FMC Technologies (now named TechnipFMC) is a technology provider for the energy industry, both traditional and new, headquartered in Erie. The company’s strategy focuses on three pillars: greenhouse gas removal, floating offshore renewables, and hydrogen. FMC’s main priorities are energy transition, emerging materials, digital technologies, and industrialization.
Franklin Bronze Plaques - Franklin, PA (2011): Established in 2006, Franklin Bronze Plaques is a plaque manufacturer that was initially a division of the former Franklin Bronze & Alloy, but has since been combined into one manufacturing process. The company uses a no-bake molding system to produce sand castings in brass, bronze, stainless steel, aluminum, and nickel-based alloys and uses energy-efficient induction melting that can make bronze castings up to 300 lbs. Franklin is one of the few manufacturers that produces the majority of the plaques they sell onsite.

From the Factory: Crazy Aaron’s Puttyworld - Norristown, PA (2020): Crazy Aaron’s Puttyworld, now called Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty, began in 1998 and has since operated as a putty manufacturer headquartered in Norristown. The putty is non-toxic and silicone-based, offering features such as glow-in-the-dark, biodegradable glitter, and poppable “confetti” putty. Some of Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty products also have effects like magnetism, UV reactivity, DIY kits, and stress-relieving scents.
From the Factory: Eight Oaks Farm Distillery - New Tripoli, PA (2020): Veteran-owned and family-run, Eight Oaks Farm Distillery grows its own corn, rye, wheat, and barley for its alcoholic beverages like bourbon, rye whiskey, vodka, and gin. The company also has its own signature beverages such as Applejack, Rum, and Ocho Robles (Eight Oaks’ traditional tequila). For Eight Oaks, the number eight is special; the figure-eight was a family member’s old signature and has since represented love and admiration for their community.
From the Factory: Smile Spinners - Marysville, PA (2020): Smile Spinners began in early 2000 when the founder, Cathy, departed from the medical field as a respiratory therapist after 20 years of service and took her sewing/quilting hobby to the next level. Smile Spinners offers over 5,000 fabrics in various textile types and has an original line of patterns. The company also offers classes for sewing and quilting at all levels, along with selling/repairing sewing machines. In 2015, Cathy’s daughter Jessica joined the company after earning her degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology and has since helped operate the business.
Furmano’s Tomatoes - Northumberland, PA (2012): Furmano’s Tomatoes was founded in 1921 by John Wesley Furman and his wife, Emma. In their first year, they canned 360 glass jars of tomatoes with the help of their six children. Ten years later, the company added corn, peas, mixed vegetables, and beans to their line, and in the 1940s their operations expanded to add industrial-size cans for their food. Since then, Furmano’s has extended its services nationwide and has reached its fourth generation of leadership.
Gardner’s Candies - Tyrone, PA (2015): Gardner’s Candies dates all the way back to 1897 when sixteen-year-old James “Pike” Gardner began operating a small store in downtown Tyrone and selling candy, popcorn, and peanuts at local events. The candy shop has since expanded to include an ice cream parlor, candy store, and candy museum inside, and now has 8 different retail locations throughout Pennsylvania. Gardner’s is best known for its Original Peanut Butter Meltaway and provides various packaging options such as candy-filled trays, baskets, and collector tins.

Gitman Brothers Dress Shirts - Ashland, PA (2017): Gitman Brothers Dress Shirts was established in 1978 but began in 1932 as the Ashland Shirt & Pajama Company. Gitman’s specialty was manufacturing shirts for their largest customer at the time of their founding, the United States military. The company remains one of the few shirt makers with all of its production still in the United States, and despite being originally based in Ashland, the company has since moved its headquarters to Lafayette, Tennessee.
GK Elite Sportswear - Reading, PA (2017): Founded in 1981, GK Elite Sportswear is a gymnastics apparel company and a division of Elite Sportswear, L.P., its parent company. GK supplies top-performing athletes worldwide, such as Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey, each with their own signature collections through the company. The sportswear supplier produces and sells leotards, tees, tank tops, sweatshirts, coach apparel, warm-up jackets, warm-up pants/leggings, hair accessories, and other training accessories for women, men, and kids.
Glades Pike Winery - Somerset, PA (2021): Founded in 1994, Glades Pike Winery is a family-owned, award-winning winery whose founder, Steve, began the business idea as a final project for an MBA degree. The idea came to fruition after Steve and his wife, Karen, joined a winemaking club. The winery is best known for its chardonnay but also offers a wide range of dry, semi-sweet, semi-dry, sweet, and fruit/dessert wines. Glades Pike also has a reputation in the community for offering affordable taste-testing, starting at $5.
Great Coasters International - Sunbury, PA (2017): Great Coasters International, Inc. (GCII) was founded in 1994 and is an international award-winning rollercoaster manufacturer. Headquartered in Sunbury, the company’s coasters are best known for their curved drops, high-speed perceptions, and twisting structures. Great Coasters built the coasters Wildcat (now Wildcat’s Revenge) and Lightning Racer at Hersheypark, but have also built rides for outside countries like Finland, Germany, and China.
Greenville Wood Products - Greenville, PA (2012): Greenville Wood Products began in 1971 as a partnership between three coworkers at another millwork shop in a Greenville Army warehouse. The woodworking shop – now owned solely by one of the three men – produces custom cabinetry, musical instruments, custom furniture, millwork, staircases, doors, and more for designers, architects, homeowners, and builders throughout the United States.
Herr’s Snack Foods - Nottingham, PA (2014): Herr’s Snack Foods was founded in 1946 after founder James Herr bought a potato chip company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The business was moved into a former tobacco shed on Herr’s family farm in 1947, then a 3,600-square-foot bakery facility in 1949, and finally a 7,000-square foot warehouse in the late 50s. Herr’s expanded to new products like popcorn and cheese curls in the 70s, and expanded its sales into 37 other countries in 1988. The food manufacturer is now in its third generation with two warehouses and more products available.
Hershey Violins - Mechanicsburg, PA (2017): Founded by luthier Scott Hershey, Hershey Violins is a violin shop that offers repairs, custom instrument craftwork, lessons, and rentals. All products that Hershey Violins crafts and repairs take place in-house rather than through a manufacturer. The shop showcases its original production in its waiting room that doubles as a gallery/showroom, featuring various artworks by Deborah Hershey and several violins available for rental and purchase.
Highland Chocolates - Wellsboro, PA (2013): Highland Chocolates is an award-winning non-profit chocolate factory/retailer located on historic Route 6 in Wellsboro. The chocolate shop is best known for its pretzel bark but also offers molded chocolates, sweet snack mixes, handmade chocolate gifts, and fresh fudge. Highland has many retail partners all over the country, including the Keegan Theatre in Washington, DC and the Joy House in Estes Park, Colorado.
Highland Wind Farm - Salix, PA (2011): The Highland Wind Farm is an energy plant in Salix that converts wind energy into bulk electrical power. The farm distributes this electrical power to Cambria County’s electrical grid, which then delivers the power to electricity consumers. Highland is situated on 4,000 acres of strip mine lands and was commissioned in 2009, hosting 25 wind turbines.
Hoover Mansion Trestle Railway - Bethlehem, PA (2016): The Hoover Mansion Trestle Railway is a linear park that is elevated 1,650 feet above the industrial site of Bethlehem Steel. The trestle has five furnaces, the oldest of which dates back to 1913, and when in operation produced approximately 3,000 tons of iron per day each with 31,000 employees. The trestle closed in 1995 but reopened in 2015 as SteelStacks, an arts and entertainment district with several parks, plazas, and performance venues, with the five blast furnaces now serving as an illuminated backdrop.
Hotsticks Firewood - Fort Loudon, PA (2019): Founded in 1984 as Gish Logging Inc., Hotsticks Firewood is North America’s largest producer of kiln-dried packaged firewood. The company is tactfully located in Fort Loudon, 100 miles from Baltimore, Harrisburg, and Washington D.C. and 150 miles from Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Hotsticks uses sawdust to fuel its kiln oven using a wood-gasification system and is USDA certified as bug, mold, and spore free.
Humphry’s Flag Company - Pottstown, PA (2013): One of the oldest and largest custom flag/banner manufacturers in the country, Humphry’s Flag Company moved to Philadelphia from New York City in 1864 and has since remained headquartered there. The company’s factory is in Pottstown and operates three manufacturing departments: applique, digital printing, and screen printing. Some of Humphry’s services include producing city, international, military, state, and US flags, as well as flag rings, outdoor equipment, and flagpoles.
J-Tech, Inc. - Chester Springs, PA (2016): J-Tech, Inc. began in 1993 as a small machining operation specializing in valve rebuilding for the liquid transportation industry. Today, J-Tech, Inc. has three divisions: J-Tech Highway Safety, J-Tech Rebuild, and J-Tech Logistics. The Rebuild division is Betts Industries’ exclusive valve rebuilder while Logistics repurposes utility fleet vehicles and Highway Safety services, sells, and manufactures safety equipment and TMA trucks for the road workforce.
Jack's Hard Cider at Hauser Estate Winery - Biglerville, PA (2015): Hauser Estate Winery, now known as the Hauser Hill Event Center, is a 172-acre venue that rests where the Confederate Army once marched during the Civil War in 1863. The indoor space was built in 2007 but renovated in 2020 to accommodate larger bookings for events. In 2018, Jack’s Hard Cider – a brand of hard cider once owned and made by Hauser – was sold to Atomic Dog LLC, and now operates out of its own separate vineyard in Gettysburg called Atomic Dog Cidery.
Jackson Wheelbarrows - Harrisburg, PA (2016): The Jackson Manufacturing Company was founded in Harrisburg by Caleb Jackson in 1876, and mainly produced lawn rollers and wheelbarrows. In 1999, the company name and Harrisburg plant was acquired by Ames, and has since been branded as Jackson Professional Tools. Jackson’s most notable product is its “Jackson” wheelbarrows, known for their professional quality and versatility both for gardening and construction, and are considered the leading wheelbarrow brand on the market.
Jensen Steam Engines - Jeannette, PA (2011): Jensen Steam Engines, operating since 1932, is a model/toy steam engine manufacturer headquartered in Jeannette. Despite its focus on toys, Jensen has also built steam engines and generators for atomic power plants and its steam engine was used to produce the world’s first nuclear power-generated electricity in 1948. The company has remained loyal to its traditional technology to this day, which is what it is nationally recognized for.
JJ White Construction - Philadelphia, PA (2011): Founded in 1920, JJ White, Inc. began as a mechanical contractor in the mid-Atlantic Construction industry and has since expanded into a single-source, multitrader contractor. JJ White’s most notable work has been the construction of the first Houdry Fixed Bed Catalytic Cracking Unit and the relocation of the Liberty Bell. The company also founded the first anti-fire and anti-freeze valve in 1936, helped build the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philadelphia in 1955, and was deemed the largest Mid-Atlantic HVAC contractor in 2000.
JustBorn Candies - Bethlehem, PA (2011): Founded in 1923, Just Born is a family-owned manufacturing company that produces the candy brands Peeps, Mike and Ike, Hot Tamales, and Goldenberg’s Peanut Chews. The company was created by Sam Born, who immigrated to the United States in 1910 and was responsible for creating the technology that produced chocolate sprinkles. The shop initially opened in New York but was relocated to Bethlehem in 1932, where it has since remained headquartered. Just Born has lasted through three generations and reached its 100th anniversary in 2023.
Kepner Scott Shoes - Orwigsburg, PA (2012): In 1888, Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania was beginning to emerge as a footwear manufacturing hub. That same year Kepner Scott Shoe Co. was founded from the former shoe firm of Haeseler, Kepner and Co. by Alexander Scott and W.C. Kepner. The Kepners are now 3rd generation shoemakers. Kessler Foods - Lemoyne, PA (2014): Kessler Foods, Inc. was a food products supplier headquartered in Lemoyne. Founded by George A. Kessler in 1916, the company was best known for its smoked meats and hot dogs, specifically its Nittany Lion Franks hot dogs. The business was family-owned and was one of the leading 200 meat processors in the United States. The business was sold and permanently closed in 2022.
Kite Tales Weaving - Mechanicsburg, PA (2019): Located in Mechanicsburg, Kites Tales was a registered Saori weaving art school that opened in December 2016. Kite Tails hosted various events, including Japanese Paper Spinning and Weaving workshops, as well as artist residencies and gallery shows. Sometime after the founder’s passing in 2021, the art studio permanently closed.
KME Fire Trucks - Nesquehoning, PA (2019): Established in 1946, KME is a fire apparatus production company specializing in steel ariels, severe service applications, and TDAs. The company also manufactures fire vehicles like Vector Electric, Aerial, Chassis, and Wildland. KME also produces equipment like aerial maintenance reduction systems and Aerialcat Steel-Safe Ladders.
Knouse Foods Applesauce - Orrtanna, PA (2021): Founded in 1949, Knouse Foods is one of the largest food processors in the United States. Headquartered in Peach Glen, one of the company’s most popular products is Musselman’s apple sauce. The apples used to make their apple sauce have been handpicked from their family farms since 1907, and are used to also make apple butter, apple cider, and fruit pie fillings.
Knouse Foods Cherry Filling - Peach Glen, PA (2021): Founded in 1949, Knouse Foods is one of the largest food processors in the United States. Headquartered in Peach Glen, one of the company’s most popular products is its Lucky Leaf Cherry fruit filling. Their cherry filling is gluten-free with real ripened cherries and no high fructose corn syrup.
Kountry Kraft Cabinets - Newmanstown, PA (2015): Kountry Kraft Cabinets is a leading custom kitchen cabinetry manufacturer in the United States. Founded in 1959, founders Elvin and Helen Hurst began the business in their family garage using a Sears Craftsman Table Saw. Kountry Kraft soon expanded to a 96,000-square-foot facility with 100 employees, and has since continued to operate as a family-owned business in its fourth generation.
Kreider Farms - Manheim, PA (2019): Kreider Farms is a produce retailer and operating farm in Manheim. The original homestead was established in 1736, when Christian Hershey purchased 400 acres of land that included the farm where Kreider Farms is based today. In 1934, the homestead was bought by John B. Hershey and began selling home-grown vegetables. They bought a processing plant and retail store in 1972, where the company sells its own milk, ice cream, eggs, and other garden products.
Langhorne Carpet Company - Penndel, PA (2011): Langhorne Carpet Company is a carpet producer that has operated since 1930. The company produces Wilton carpets, a luxurious high-quality carpet with very few weavers left in the world that can manufacture them. Langhorne’s carpets are made in-house at its mill in Penndel, and offer products/services like custom carpeting, carpet finishing, carpet fabrications/installations, and line-run carpet.
Legendary Arms Works - Reinholds, PA (2015): Legendary Arms Works was a bolt action rifle manufacturer that was first headquartered in Reinholds. Opened in 2014, the company was then moved to Harrisburg after being reconstructed but permanently closed in 2020. Legendary Arms’ products included rifles, specialty gunstocks, and gun parts.
Letterkenny Army Depot - Chambersburg, PA (2010): Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD) is an Army facility in Chambersburg. Opened in 1942, LEAD provides repair and modernization services for Air and Missile Defenses, as well as precision fire systems. The depot is headquartered in Chambersburg on 18,000 acres, and operates under the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command. LEAD is certified in Aerospace 9100D/9110C Quality Management Systems, Environmental ISO 14001, Quality ISO 9001, and OHSAS 18001 for Health and Safety.
Liberty Pole Spirits - Washington, PA (2022): Founded in 2016, Liberty Pole Spirits is a family-owned distillery specializing in craft whiskey. The distillery began producing 300 gallons, expanded to 60 gallons in 2019, and moved to a distillery campus in 2023, which tripled production. Liberty Pole’s products include corn whiskey, wheated bourbon whiskey, rye whiskey, peated bourbon whiskey, and bourbon cream.
Linden Creek Dairy Farm - Canonsburg, PA (2022): Linden Creek Dairy Farm is a family-owned farm that produces non-homogenized milk. Operating since 1929, Linden Creek’s creamline milk is made in-house; the milk is taken from the cow, inserted in the milk tank, run through the pasteurizer, and then bottled for retail. The farm has a total of 130 cows, 80 of which are milked, and their flavors all include regular, chocolate, cookies & cream, strawberry, and chocolate peanut butter. They also sell cheese curds, cheddar cheese, farm eggs, lettuce, honey, and soap.
Linesville State Fish Hatchery - Linesville, PA (2021): Constructed in 1939, the Linesville State Fish Hatchery is a fish farm based on 2,500 acres. The facility is owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and managed by the Fish and Boat Commission, and the water is supplied from both Pymatuning Reservoir and production wells. Linesville has a hatchery building containing stainless steel and concrete raceways, exterior concrete raceways, earthen ponds, and tray egg incubators. The hatchery sees an average of 80,000 visitors per year.
Lion Brewery - Wilkes-Barre, PA (2009): The land on which Lion Brewery resides was bought in 1905 for $1 from the Delaware and Hudson railroad by the then-Luzerne County Brewing Company. The brewery’s name changed to The Lion Brewery in 1912 and continued to sell beers throughout the Prohibition era. The Lion Brewery now makes 50,000 barrels of beer yearly, and also produces soft drinks, energy drinks, and maltas.
Little Lake Theatre - Canonsburg, PA (2022): Little Lake Theatre is a theater company inside a former barn in Washington County. The theater was opened by Edith Disney and her son, Will, in 1949 after they successfully leased the barn from the owner of the farm on which it stood. The silo was converted into a ticket booth, and the on-site tractor shed was converted into a rehearsal space. Little Lake is best known for its experimentation with central staging, as the stage is in the center of the theater rather than all the way to the end, and has maintained the old barn’s original concrete and wood structuring inside.

Longwood Gardens: A Longwood Christmas - Kennett Square, PA (2022): Founded in 1907, Longwood Gardens is a botanical garden in Kennett Square that spans 1,077 acres. Every year, from November 17 to January 7, Longwood Gardens hosts “A Very Retro Christmas” event where visitors can observe multiple holiday-themed scenes throughout the garden’s paths. Some scenes include a mid-century magic display, a vintage Christmas street exhibit, and retro lights/decorations on the garden’s trees. Their tunnels are lit with at least 20,000 bulbs, and their fountains are lit with Christmas-colored spotlights.
Lycoming County Resource Management - Williamsport Area, PA (2015): Lycoming County Resource Management Services is a county government office in the Williamsport area. The office oversees landfills, transfer stations, recycling, business information, residual/special handling waste, and haulers' rules and regulations. Malmark Hand Bells & Chimes - Plumsteadville, PA (2014): Malmark is a bell-craftsman company that specializes in handbell design and maintenance. Incorporated in 1973 by Jacob H. Malta, the company provided a new profile of the tuned casting that rang out a cleaner and found itself already expanding by 1978. In 1992, Malmark introduced the use of aluminum for its bass bells castings to the bell-craftsman industry and has since remained a leading handbell production company. Some of its products outside of handbells include teaching aids for playing handbells, mallets, Choirchime instruments, and percussion.
Marcellus Shale Education and Training Center - Montgomery, PA (2011): Officially opening in 2009, the Marcellus Shale Education and Training Center (MSETC) is a training center that aims to provide both the community and the natural gas industry with a main resource for workforce development and local educational needs relating to Marcellus Shale gas. The training center exists as a partnership between Penn State Cooperative Extension and Pennsylvania College of Technology. Although there are multiple locations, the main center of MSETC is located in Williamsport, PA, on the campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology.
MarkWest Energy Partners - Canonsburg, PA (2013): MarkWest Energy Partners is a natural gas gathering, processing, and transportation company. Founded in 1988 in Denver, Colorado, the company also handles the transportation, fractioning, storage, and marketing of natural gas liquids (NGLs) and the gathering/transportation of crude oil. Mompops - Kennett Square, PA (2021): Founded in 2010, Mompops is a frozen dessert supplier in Kennett Square. The ice-pop shop was started by mother and son Sandra and Issa Ostrander, and is a woman-owned business that aims to create an allergen-friendly and healthier ice pop. Mompops carries a variety of flavors, including chocolate sea salt, mango, banana raspberry, pineapple basil, banana chocolate, and strawberry lemonade. The business was awarded the Best of the Best Annual Dining Award by County Lines Magazine in 2017.
Nova Maple Syrup - Hartstown, PA (2021): Nova Maple Syrup is a family-operated maple syrup farm in Hartstown that opened in 2015. The farm is on 100 acres of land and has expanded since its opening to 22,000 tapped trees that cover 275 acres. Some of Nova’s products include maple candy, granulated sugar, barrel aged syrup, shirts, maple pebbles, hats, sweatpants, spices, and cream. The company also offers its farmhouse and lakehouse for vacation rental through Vrbo and Airbnb.
Oakworks - New Freedom, PA (2017): Oakworks, Inc. is a U.S. manufacturer of spa, medical, and massage equipment located in New Freedom. The company was founded by Linda and Jeff Riach, who began Oakworks by building a massage table, and has since expanded into a 91,000-square-foot facility in southern Pennsylvania. Some of Oakworks’ products include imaging tables, prone pillows, side lying positioning system, PT tables, and SoVi Systems.
Pardoe’s Perky Peanuts - Montandon, PA (2012): Founded in 1959, Pardoe’s Perky Peanuts is a nut shop that sells various hand-cooked nuts like trail mixes, nut mixes, and flavored pretzels. The company was founded by George Pardoe and has remained family-owned and headquartered in the Chillisquaque Creek area since. Some of Pardoe’s products include apparel (hats and shirts), cashews, pizza-seasoned sourdough pretzel pieces, and apple pie trail mix.
Patterson Maple Farms - Westfield, PA (2019): Patterson Maple Farms is a family-owned, fourth-generation farm that produces maple syrup from tapped trees. The farm has over 80,000 taps, managed every spring by both employees and volunteers. Patterson owns three stainless steel sap silos; the first silo runs through a sand filter into the second silo, the second silo filters the sap before it runs through the RO, and the third silo holds permeate from the RO for cleaning.
Patterson-Kelley Boilers & Water Heaters - East Stroudsburg, PA (2017): Patterson-Kelley was founded in 1880 as Benjamin F. Kelley & Company, first producing feed-water heaters. The company merged with Frank L. Patterson in 1917 and expanded its production to custom-engineered heat exchangers and gas-fired commercial boilers. Patterson-Kelly products are manufactured in the United States and are distributed throughout North America. In 2019, Patterson-Kelly became a part of SPX Technologies, a global supplier of infrastructure equipment with scalable growth platforms in ventilation, HVAC, heating, and detection and measurement.
Paul Downs Furniture - Bridgeport, PA (2016): Opened in 1986, Paul Downs Furniture first started as a one-room shop operating out of Philadelphia and has since expanded to a 33,000 sq. foot facility. This furniture manufacturer specializes in modern conference/boardroom tables and other office furniture, such as lecterns, credenzas, and reception desks. Paul Downs Furniture is American-made and customizes each of its products with over 40 different types of wood.
Penn State Creamery - University Park, PA (2011): Penn State Berkey Creamery was established in 1865 behind today’s Old Main inside the “College Barns.” In response to this founding, Penn State developed courses for students to study dairy manufacturing and what is now known as Penn State’s Department of Food Science since 1975. Through Penn State Creamery and its courses, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield took the course on making ice cream in 1978 and launched their ice cream product, Ben & Jerry’s, later that year.
Penn State University Steam Services - State College, PA (2013): Penn State University Steam Services, operating through the university’s Office of Physical Plant, oversees the East and West campus steam plants. These plants produce a combined power and heating for the 200+ buildings at University Park, which is distributed through a 17-mile-long network of underground pipes. The West Campus Steam Plant (WCSP) was built in 1929 and produces the primary steam production, and the East Campus Steam Plant (ECSP) was built in 1972 and serves peak steam demands.
PennDOT Road Sign Sculpture Garden - Meadville, PA (2021): The Pennsylvania State Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Road Sign Sculpture Garden is a garden comprised of sculptures made out of official Pennsylvania road signs. The official name for the garden is “Read Between the Signs,” and it is a 1,200-foot-long wall that runs along the fencing of the Crawford County PennDOT offices. The road signs are repurposed into art by PennDOT employees and Allegheny College students. The signs in PennDOT’s Road Sign Sculpture Garden have been repurposed to sculpt basic day-to-day items such as a train, a farm, flowers, Bentley Hall at the Allegheny College campus, and a Ferris wheel.
Pennsylvania Precision Cast Parts - Lebanon, PA (2018): Pennsylvania Precision Cast Parts (PPCP) was founded in 1983 by Richard Miller Jr., the son of one of the founders of Quaker Alloy, when he resigned from his father’s business and started his own investment casting foundry with Ron Civita. The original facility burned down in a fire in 1987, but it quickly rebuilt and expanded in the 1990s by purchasing a facility that was once part of Lebanon Steel Foundry, where the business has been headquartered ever since. PPCP is in its fourth generation, and specializes in castings for several parts, industries, and applications that weigh up to 250 pounds.
Pepperell Braiding & Holgate Toys - Bradford, PA (2015): Established in 1917 in Bradford, Pepperell Braiding Company (PBC) began as a shoelace manufacturer but quickly developed into braiding flameless cigarette lighter wicks during World War II. After the war, the company added candle wicking to their services and in the 1970s expanded into the craft market with macrame cords. One of Pepperell’s brands includes Holgate Toys, a toy manufacturer in Kane founded in 1929 that is best known for its wooden toys.
Philadelphia Candies - Hermitage, PA (2012): Philadelphia Candies is a candy shop founded in 1919 headquartered in Hermitage. The candy shop produces and sells a wide variety of chocolate candies, some of which are chocolate covered fruits, boxed assortments of chocolates, gourmet chocolate bars, melt-away truffles, old-fashioned cream filled chocolates, graham crackers, potato chips, and pretzels. Philadelphia Candies has expanded to include retail stores in both Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Pioneer Pole Buildings - Schuylkill Haven, PA (2017): Pioneer Pole Buildings was founded in 1998 in Schuylkill Haven, and has since expanded to provide building services for post-frame construction in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, West Virginia, Delaware, New York, and Virginia. The company provides various pole barn services across the Mid-Atlantic, including pickle barns, equestrian pole barns, post-frame pavilions, agricultural pole buildings, metal roofing, residential pole buildings, and board & batten pole barns. Each building is constructed to withstand at least 90 miles-per-hour winds.
Plot Twist Farm - Guys Mills, PA (2021): The Plot Twist Farm was started in 2015 by Jason and Stella Ruggiero in north Titusville, but moved to family-owned land between Meadville and Titusville in 2016 after the size of the farm doubled. The farm runs approximately 5 acres long and grows at least 30 different vegetables with 100+ varieties, grown without use of any synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. The Plot Twist Farm’s gardens are managed through cover crop rotations and locally-sourced compost.
Pro Barrier Engineering - Wrightsville, PA (2014): Founded in 2004, Pro Barrier Engineering is a United States-based company that builds/designs anti-terrorism vehicle barriers. These barriers are manufactured and installed for commercial/government buildings, industrial sites, military installations, and public venues across the globe. Pro Barrier specializes in high-stopping-power barriers, and are responsible for designing the industry’s first portable barrier, first aluminum barrier, first non-metallic barrier, and first gravity activated ultra-high stopping power barrier.
Pro Signs Company - Downingtown, PA (2010): Pro Signs Company was opened in 1947 by Robert V. Protesto as a local hand-painted sign business. The company soon expanded into a large, family-owned business that outgrew its original location in the 1990s and moved to Downingtown. Pro Signs is one of the largest signage and graphics companies on the east coast, providing services to companies like M&T Bank, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Daytona Speedway, Connecticut Science Center, and Clarksburg Premium Outlets.
Pulakos Chocolates - Erie, PA (2017): Pulakos Chocolates was opened in 1889 and was founded by George Pulakos in Philadelphia. The business began as a pushcart and out-of-home operation, where he would sell his handmade candies and transport to different areas of the city. In 1903, Pulakos moved to Erie and opened three shops there. Since then, the company has opened four stores, three bakeries, and one restaurant in the Erie area and has remained headquartered there. Pulakos Chocolates is in its fourth generation and sells different chocolate products like chocolate covered fruits, assorted chocolate boxes, and variably-shaped chocolate novelties.
Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center - Punxsutawney, PA (2020): The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center is a science museum that provides educational exhibitions on the science and folklore of weather. Punxsutawney, known as the “Weather Capital of the World,” is also the site of Pennsylvania’s groundhog for Groundhog’s Day predictions named “Phil.” The museum has several exhibits on this folklore, as well as scientific weather topics like tornadoes/thunderstorms, clouds, the water cycle, and weather forecasting technology.
Radius Toothbrush - Kutztown, PA (2012): Radius Toothbrush is a toothbrush brand company headquartered in Kutztown that specializes in eco-friendly toothbrushes. Radius toothbrushes are engineered to be ergonomic and are made out of recycled materials. Their products are available for adults, kids, and pets, selling floss and toothpaste along with toothbrushes. Radius also offers a quiz to buyers that determines the type of toiletries that are individually best suited for them.
Range Resources - Canonsburg, PA (2013): Range Resources Corporation is a United States-based independent natural gas and NGL producer with operations centered in the Appalachian Basin. The company engages in the exploration, development, and acquisition of natural gas/oil properties in the midcontinent regions of the U.S. Range Resources has over 500 employees and was founded in 1976.
Red Stone Glen Fiber Arts - York Haven, PA (2016): Red Stone Glen Fiber Arts is a fiber arts center in York County, PA, that offers classes in the fiber arts. After attending trade school in Lancaster and completing The Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program, he worked for the Hamilton Watch Company until his founding of RGM. Murphy engineered well-known watches like the Caliber 801 and the Pennsylvanian Tourbillon, and is best known for his modern manufacturing blended with antique hand-operation.
Schramm Drilling Rigs - West Chester, PA (2013): Schramm, Inc. is a hydraulic drill manufacturer and supplier for both the United States and Australia. Founded in 1900 by Chris Schramm, the company initially manufactured engine-driven machinery and portable air compressors. Smooth-On - Macungie, PA (2017): Established in 1895, Smooth-On, Inc. is a manufacturing company that produces silicone rubbers, urethane foams, polyurethane rubbers and plastics, adhesives, coatings, release agents, and polysulfide rubbers. Headquartered in Macungie, the company actually began in Easton, PA on an 8-acre campus but was relocated for the third time and now rests on a 30-acre lot with production, warehouse, lab, office areas, and training facilities.
Speckled Hen Chocolate - Saxonburg, PA (2019): Speckled Hen Chocolate Company was opened in 2013 in Saxonburg, PA, and is an in-house gourmet chocolate company that specializes in customized treats. The company is best known for its peppermint patty and orange cream-centered chocolates, as well as its dark chocolate products. Spring City Electrical’s products include LED luminaires, lamp posts, traffic control pieces, and bollards.
SteelStacks Campus and ArtsQuest Center - Bethlehem, PA (2011): SteelStacks opened in 2011 as a revitalization of the former Bethlehem Steel Plant, the second largest steel manufacturer in the United States which closed its doors permanently in 1995. The plant is now a ten-acre campus dedicated to culture, family events, arts, education, community celebrations, and fun. The campus hosts at least 1,000 concerts and eight festivals annually. SteelStacks has a partnership with ArtsQuest, a nonprofit organization providing access to culture, art, and educational programs for the Lehigh Valley area.
Straub Brewery - Saint Marys, PA (2016): Opened in 1872, Straub Brewery is one of the oldest family-owned breweries in the United States and specializes in handcrafting German-American lagers and traditional craft beer. The brewery is headquartered in St. Marys and was founded by Peter Straub, who initially named it Benzinger Spring Brewery after the fresh mountain spring that runs below it. After Straub passed away in 1913, the brewery was renamed Peter Straub and Sons Brewery, but in 1947 it was incorporated and known as Straub Brewery, Inc. The brewery also offers house specialties like bratwurst, nachos, smoked cheesecake, beef on weck, Sunday brunch, and Braunschweiger Melt.

Sunny Hill Farm Belgians - Myerstown, PA (2017): Sunny Hill Farms, owned by Ken and Karen Sandoe, is a 130-acre farm that is home to Belgian draft horses. These horses and the farm are best known in Pennsylvania for their regular appearance in the horse hitch competition at the annual Farm Show in Harrisburg. There, they have won several prizes including “Best of Show,” and Karen Sandoe was the first woman to win first prize in the two-horse-hitch category of the competition. When the horses are not competing, however, they are used on occasion for hauling manure, discing the Sunny Hill Farm fields, and raking hay as a part of the Sandoes’ daily chores. The Belgian horses have been shown not only in Pennsylvania, but also Denver, London, Ontario, and Tennessee.
Sunrise Soap Company - York, PA (2017): Sunrise Soap Company is a store and soap creation studio located in downtown York. The soap company not only sells soaps, but also bath accessories, feet and body care, lips/face/hair care, lotions, and pet care products. Tait Towers - Lititz, PA (2010): Founded in 1978 by Michael Tait, Tait is a supplier of touring staging, scenic, and automation that went global in 2012. In 2014, Tait opened Rock Lititz, a production community that provides a space for live experience collaboration, design, engineering, rehearsal, and manufacturing. Tait has more than 1,400 employees that are fabricators, planners, producers, creative engineers, and technologists who have even worked in outer space for the entertainment industry. Tex Visions - Carlise, PA (2018): Tex Visions has a vast array of methods at their disposal for getting their clients’ messages out to the public. The Pennsylvania Bakery - Camp Hill, PA (2015): The Pennsylvania Bakery is a baking and pastry shop that was opened in 1986 by husband and wife Ken and Michelle Schenk. Ken Schenk Jr.’s grandparents, John and Pauline Schenk, began the family business; they had immigrated from Germany and opened Schenk’s Bakery in 1938. The Pennsylvania Bakery eventually expanded that more than doubled the size of their shop and has remained this way since. The bakery offers various pastries that are made in-house, including European recipes, breakfast foods, cookies, pies, cupcakes, and a complete coffee shop.
The U.S. Mint - Philadelphia, PA (2014): The United States Mint is a bureau within the Department of the Treasury that produces coinage for the nation and controls the movement of bullion. The first ever U.S. Mint was created by the Confederation Congress in Philadephia in 1792 - the original capital of the country - and remains today the largest and one of the four active coin-producing mints. Troegs Brewery - Hershey, PA (2012): Troegs Independent Brewing is an all-inclusive brewery located in Hershey that offers tours, a tasting room, and a snack bar with an American menu. The brewery was founded in 1997 by John and Chris Trogner, and is mostly known for its Troegenator and best-selling India Pale Ale (IPA) in the state: Perpetual IPA. The facility expanded from an old warehouse in Harrisburg to a larger facility with two brewhouses in 2011, one for daily production and the other a smaller pilot brew system for researching and developing beers.
Utz Snack Foods - Hanover, PA (2013): Also known as Utz, Utz Brands, Inc. is a snack food company based in the United States that is best known for its potato chips. The company was founded in 1921 initially named Hanover Home Brand Potato Chips, and was run out of the home of founders William and Salie Utz. Utz’s products include pretzels, kettle chips, popcorn, snack mixes, cheese snacks, tortilla chips, potato skins, dips and salsa, pork rinds and cracklins, veggies, and potato chips. Vectron Electronics - Mt. Holly Springs, PA (2012): Vectron International was a United States-based manufacturer of crystal oscillators and other electronic products. The company designs, manufactures, and markets frequency control, sensor, and hybrid product solutions, and use both bulk and surface acoustic wave-based designs from DC to microwave frequencies. Vectron was acquired by Microsemi in October 2017, which was then acquired by Microchip Technology in March 2018 under which it operates as a subsidiary.
Versant Health - Newtown, PA (2018): Versant Health is an eyewear manufacturing lab with its certified eyewear laboratory headquartered in Newtown. The company was first founded in 1917 as Davis Optical in New York City, but merged 100 years later with Superior Vision and became Versant Health. The company was eventually acquired by MetLife in 2021, but remains one of the leading administrators of managed vision care in the United States.
ViWinco Vinyl Windows - Morgantown, PA (2011): ViWinco Windows + Doors is a window and door manufacturer that was founded in 1982 and remains family-owned/operated today. The manufacturer specializes in patio doors, custom-made vinyl windows, and new construction/replacement applications in both residential and commercial markets. All products are constructed entirely in-house at its headquarters in Morgantown, and has a solar farm of over 7,800 solar panels that supports its energy-efficient commitment.
Volvo Construction Equipment - Shippensburg, PA (2012): Formerly titled VME Group, Volvo Consruction Equipment is a machine industry company that was founded in 1832. Its brands include Volvo, SDLG, and Terex Trucks. Its products include loaders, dumpers, compactors, waste handlers, pipelayers, demolition equipment, motor graders, skid teers, and more. The Shippensburg location was established in 2007, which specializes in compact wheel loaders, asphalt pavers, asphalt compacts, and soil compactors. The company is headquartered in Sweden and has production facilities in the United States, Brazil, France, Scotland, Germany, India, Poland, Russia, China, and South Korea.
Warrell Candies - Camp Hill, PA (2011): Based in Camp Hill, the Warrell Corporation is a confectionery and snack food manufacturing company, and is one of the top candy manufacturers in the country. Founded in 1965, the Warrell Corporation was first opened by Lincoln Warrell as Pennsylvania Dutch Candies, a specialty candy manufacturer, food distributor and marketer. The company expanded quickly as it brought Katharine Beecher Candies, Pennsylvania Dutch Candies, and Melster Candies altogether under the new Warrell Corporation in 2000 and opened a 200,000 square-foot facility. The company primarily contracts manufacturing for high-quantity chocolate confectioners.
Wayneco Cabinets - York, PA (2011): Wayneco Cabinetry is a privately-owned custom wood cabinetry manufacturer specializing in kitchen and bathroom cabinets. The company was founded in 1961 by Wayne M. Meyer and operated out of his home, servicing local builders with all-wood traditional custom cabinetry. In 1968, the company expanded and moved to its present headquarters in York. Wayneco then expanded its products to manufactured raise panel doors in 1986 and now provides services all over the United States.
Weis Ice Cream - Sunbury, PA (2017): Founded in 1912, Weis Markets is a Mid-Atlantic retail company with over 190 stores in Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, New Jersey, and Virginia. The company was initially named Weis Pure Foods and was opened as a cornerstore in Sunbury, where it remains headquartered today. Weis processes its own milk and uses the excess butterfat to make its Weis Quality Ice Cream, which has more than 50 flavors. In April 2023, Weis launched Weis By Nature, an ice cream collection produced in the Sunbury headquarters’ creamery with no artificial ingredients or GMOs. Weis By Nature has eleven flavors, including chocolate, coffee, peanut butter cup, salty caramel ripple, fudge twirl, and mint chocolate chip.
Wendell August Forge - Mercer, PA (2013): The Wendell August Forge is the oldest and largest hand-wrought ornamental metalware and elegant giftware manufacturer in the United States. The company was founded in 1923 by Wendell McMinn August, a coal miner, in a one-story facility but was revolutionized after being contracted to build gates for Alcoa’s famous Aluminum Research Laboratories in New Kensington in 1930. The original facility was deemed a National Historic Landmark in the 1990s, but in 2010 the historic manufacturing facility and Flagship Store was destroyed in a fire that called for over 20 firefighters to help fight. Virtually all historic dies were saved in the fire, which allowed Wendell August Forge to survive.
Wert Bookbinding - Grantville, PA (2016): Wert Bookbinding’s beginnings were nothing short of humble; John and Kathryn Wert started the business in 1960 and worked out of their one-car garage in Linglestown. In 10 years, however, the business rapidly expanded to several new buildings with an employee increase to 40. Wert Bookbinding relocated to Grantville in 1984, where it remains headquartered today. Its services include personal Bible rebinding, post binders, deacidification of books and documents, family Bible restoration/rebinding, handbinding of rare/valuable books, and restoration of leather bindings.
Whitehorse Brewery - Berlin, PA (2021): Established in 2012, Whitehorse Brewery is a family-owned, hand-crafted beer brewery with over 20 handcrafted brews. The brewery has two locations, one in Berlin and the other in Washington, and brews its beer unpasteurized, unfiltered, and with no preservatives. The first beer made by Whitehorse Brewery was its Packsaddle Pale Ale, which is its most well-known beer, but it offers over 20 different breweries like Pious IPA, Honey Lager, and Raspberry Lemonade Cider. Whitehorse is also the site for several events, including weddings, tours, live music events, and food trucks.
Wigle Whiskey - Pittsburgh, PA (2014): Although Wigle Whiskey was founded and opened in 2012, its namesake dates all the way back to a man who unintentionally sparked the Whiskey Rebellion in 1794. Philip Wigle was convicted of treason and sentenced to death after he had helped to incite the riots and protests that would define the Whiskey Rebellion by punching a tax collector. He was pardoned eventually by George Washington. This history has given Wigle Whiskey an antique flavor; it offers tours that provide the history of the Whiskey Rebellion, and the founders - Mark and Meredith Meyers - penned a book titled The Whiskey Rebellion & the Rebirth of Rye. The distillery is family-owned and specializes in artisan small batch whiskey, functioning as an organic “grain-to-glass” distiller, and its products include Pennsylvania Rye, Kilted Rye, Pennsylvania Bourbon, and Cinnamon Whiskey.
Worthington Acres Alpacas - Unityville, PA (2011): Worthington Acres Alpacas is an alpaca farm and fiber mill in Lycoming County, opened in 2005 after founders Craig and Jane Johnson purchased their first three Huacaya Alpacas. The Fiber Mill at Worthington Acres was opened in 2009, home to a herd size of over 60 Huacaya and Suri alpacas, and its natural alpaca fiber products include shoe inserts and dryer balls. Worthington Acres processes fiber annually for at least 200 farms and offers tours to see both the alpacas and the fiber mill.
WPX Energy - Canonsburg, PA (2013): Williams Production and Exploration (WPX), Inc. was an independent hydrocarbon exploration company headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The company was founded in 2011 and its products included petroleum, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. Per day, WPX produced approximately 167,000 barrels of oil. In 2021, the company was acquired by Devon Energy.
