Natalie Carbone Mangini is 95 years old, and has the stories to prove it. Growing up just outside of Pittsburgh, in Crabtree, Natalie watched as the town shed its company town mantle as her parents became invested in the community. They opened Carbone's Restaurant in 1938, which only recently closed in 2018, and Natalie spent almost her entire life helping at the restaurant in one way or another. But that is just a small slice of her story. An avid learner, Natalie attended Seton Hill, where she received a BA in Chemistry. She worked for Westinghouse out of school, but became bored with the role she found herself in. She found herself applying for a position at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, which she landed. In 1957, she found herself as the only woman employee there with the title of 'Scientist'.
We'll let Natalie tell the rest of her story, but truly, this is one you will want to hear.
