Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, home of the world-famous groundhog weather forecaster, is also known as “The Weather Capital of the World.” That makes the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center the ultimate destination to learn how the science and folklore of weather prediction collide.
The exhibits are interactive so you become part of the exhibit, and that makes it loads of fun for kids. Learn about tornados, thunderstorms, precipitation, lightening, weather emergency readiness, and of course, Punxsutawney’s most famous resident, Phil the groundhog!
Each Groundhog Day, the Center honors a scientist whose contributions have furthered the science of meteorology and broadcast meteorology by inducting him or her into the Meteorologist Hall of Fame.
