Journalists Roundtable: January 16, 2020

The House was in session this week, and passed a bill calling for a moratorium on the closure of two state centers for persons with intellectual disabilities. Also, the House amended and passed a bill that would make the use of hand-held cell phones a secondary offenses, meaning another violation would have to occur first for a driver to be charged. The bill also made texting while driving a secondary offense. Currently, it’s a primary offense, meaning a police officer can pull over a drive they see texting while driving. Mental health has been the topic of several press conferences lately, with Gov. Tom Wolf issuing a plan to remove the stigma from seeking care and making sure that services and insurance coverage are available. Ours guests this week are: Robb Hanrahan, Anchor with CBS21 Harrisburg and host of ‘Face the State,’ Justin Sweitzer, State Government Reporter, with The PLS Reporter, and Cody Carlson, Capitol Reporter with Lilly Broadcasting. Our host is Brian Lockman.
