Nov. 4: Election Laws

The General Assembly passed and Gov. Tom Wolf has signed a comprehensive Election Code update that: eliminates straight party voting, allows no excuse absentee voting and absentee ballots can be submitted up until 8 PM on Election Day (as opposed to the Friday before election Day), shortens the registration deadline to 15 days before election (as opposed to 30), and provides $90 million to counties for voting machine replacement (about 60% of the total cost). To discuss the new election laws are Doug Hill, Executive Director of the County Commissioners Association of PA; and Reggie Shuford, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union.
