Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate is close to historic lows at 4 percent, compared to the national average of 3.5 percent. Pennsylvania remains the only state in the region that still pays a $7.25 minimum wage. Raising the base pay for workers and tipped employees is an issue high on Gov. Tom Wolf’s priority list. He also recently announced an executive order increasing overtime pay for employees that work 40 or more hours a week.
