Videographer – Full Time

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:               Videographer

DEPARTMENT:        Programming

STATUS:                    Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO:           Vice President of Field Operations

 

GENERAL FUNCTION:  Operate and troubleshoot video and audio equipment for field shoots and events for the Pennsylvania Cable Network. Equipment includes cameras, switchers, mixers, microphones, and any other equipment needed to televise taped and live events. Responsible for both single-camera recordings and directing of multi-camera events. Interacts daily with members of all PCN departments, in particular Programming, Engineering, and Operations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contacting onsite personnel at events to plan logistics and anticipate problems or issues to be addressed prior to the shoot;
  • Operating camera, managing of audio, switching, and streaming events from the field;
  • Logging of events;
  • Basic editing;
  • Typing graphics for events;
  • Traveling to and from events, sometimes over long distances; driving company vehicles
  • Participating in the Programming Department meeting each week;
  • Overnight travel may be required;
  • Required to keep PennDOT medical certificate updated for the purpose of driving PCN’s production truck;
  • Other duties, as assigned by Programming management.

BACKGROUND/SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Radio and TV Production/Journalism strongly preferred;
  • Strong knowledge and experience with cameras, audio, lighting, and switching equipment is required; able to direct, edit, and shoot events in both live and recorded environments in the field and or studio;
  • Understanding of PCN mission, state politics, and public affairs;
  • Valid Pennsylvania drivers license;
  • Good communications skills;
  • Ability to work flexible hours;
  • Ability to lift and load equipment weighing 50-pounds;
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time;
  • Organized, prompt, timely;
