Description
On March 25, 2017, the Reading Red Knights (29-3) took on the Pine-Richland Rams (28-1) in the PIAA Boys 6A Basketball Championship. Reading had won more basketball games than any other program in the state, but they had never been crowned PIAA champions. Pine-Richland's football program had made it to the finals in the past, but this was the first time the basketball team got to play in Hershey. The largest crowd to ever witness a Pennsylvania basketball state championship game gathered on a Saturday evening to see if Lonnie Walker could finally lead the Red Knights to the promised land or if future Division I football player Phil Jurkovec and the Rams would silence the crowd.
