Description
Built in 1909, the Luzerne County Courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historical Places in September 1980. Located on the Susquehanna River in Wilkes-Barre, the courthouse boasts many notable architectural features, as well as a rich history that is explored on this episode of PA's Historic Courthouses. Notably, each of the 3rd-floor courtrooms features a mural painting over each judge's bench, done by some of the most important American artists of the 20th century. See that artwork, the vaulted ceiling in the rotunda, and many other features at the Luzerne County Courthouse.
