Tatiana's Restaurant - Mechanicsburg, PA (2024): Tatiana's Restaurant in Mechanicsburg, PA, specializes in Mediterranean and European cuisine, offering a variety of dishes that highlight fresh, high-quality ingredients and bold flavors.
Glen Rock Mill Inn - Glen Rock, PA (2024): The Glen Rock Mill Inn in Glen Rock, PA, is a historic restaurant housed in a restored 19th-century mill. This unique dining venue is known for its American cuisine, featuring locally sourced ingredients and seasonal dishes.

Portabellos of Kennett Square - Kennett Square, PA (2023): Portabellos of Kennett Square is a New American cuisine situated in Kennett Square, just outside of Philadelphia. Opened in April 2019 by married couple Brett Hulbert and Sandra Morris, their menu features foods with various international influences, such as Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Greek.
The Athenian Cafe - Altoona, PA (2023): The Athenian Cafe, formerly named “Theos Acropolis” after the founder and owner, is a Greek restaurant that offers an authentic Greek spread. Their menu contains several Greek staples, such as gyros, spanakopita, Feta cheese appetizers, kebab platters, and pitas.
Talbot’s Taproom & Terrace - Mercer, PA ( 2023): Opened in May 2017, Talbot’s Taproom & Terrace is an independently-owned modern American restaurant located in Mercer. The restaurant has an outdoor terrace that includes games, fairy lights, and seating for patrons. Their menu includes American classics and local favorites, such as steak, wings, and pot stickers.
Stookey’s Famous Bar-B-Que - Nanticoke, PA (2023): Stookey’s Famous Bar-B-Que is a barbecue restaurant that has been operating since 1926. The founders, Ralph and Margaret Stookey, first opened the restaurant as a roadside stand, where they began the restaurant’s tradition of smoking large cuts of fresh pork in an open pit next to their facility. Stookey’s has since expanded their menu to include chicken, fish, beef, lamb, and turkey and uses their own famous family secret sauce, which is now sold and shipped out nationwide.
2022
Big Dan’s BBQ - Catawissa, PA (2022): Originally called Well Done Q, Big Dan’s BBQ is a barbecue restaurant in Catawissa founded by Dan “Big Dan” Bosworth. What started as a barbecue stand in Big Dan’s backyard in 2012 rapidly grew into a full-scale business, and in 2019, the stand became a full-scale restaurant. The business offers many foods served with the slow-smoked family recipe barbecue, such as pork, BBQ beans, and brisket.
Hog’s Hollow Saloon - Berwick, PA (2022): Established in 2015, Hog’s Hollow Saloon is a bar & grill specializing in smoked meat made in-house, barbeque, specialty fries, seafood, orange crush drinks, and wings. Hog’s Hollow also provides live entertainment every week and a pet-friendly deck, as well as a lengthy all-American menu and various alcoholic beverages.
Main Street Moonshine - Schuylkill Haven, PA (2022): Main Street Moonshine is a Prohibition Era-themed distillery and pub housed inside of what used to be the historic Meck Knitting Mill, built in 1905. The pub was officially opened in 2020 by John and Lori Michael, but it provides a 20s-themed interior with artifacts that exhibit local history. Main Street specializes in its moonshine, which they distill and bottle on-site in the upstairs part of the pub.
The Woods House - Pittsburgh, PA (2022): The John Woods House is a historic house built in 1792 by Colonel George Woods, Pittsburgh’s first surveyor. It is considered one of the oldest remaining structures in Pittsburgh and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The building now serves as a historic Scottish pub featuring Scottish and Pittsburgh delicacies.

The Chuck Wagon Restaurant - Somerset, PA (2021): The Chuck Wagon Restaurant is an outdoor American restaurant in Somerset, and is best known for its extensive menu and catering service. The restaurant specializes in its own smoked steak served with grilled peppers, onions, and provolone cheese, which is called a “Chuck.” The Chuck Wagon also provides an extensive catering menu for all types of events, such as weddings, birthday parties, and more.
The Englewood, PA’s Neighborhood - Hershey, PA (2021): The Englewood is a historic barn repurposed into a venue for concerts, weddings, and other private events. Built in 1861, the venue also has a separate brewery, Englewood Brewing, that runs as an independent craft brewery and sit-down restaurant. The Englewood boasts an eclectic menu with Italian, American, Mexican, and Cuban influences for both the brewery patrons and event hosts/guests. The venue is a Central Pennsylvania Music Awards winner.
The Log Cabin Restaurant - Leola, PA (2021): The Log Cabin Restaurant was initially opened as a speakeasy during the Prohibition era but became a fine-dining American restaurant in 1933. The restaurant is best known for its specialty cocktails and high-end menu, serving meals like Pacific salmon filet, barrel-cut ribeye steak, and thai curry chicken. The restaurant has earned a reputation for its high quality food, earning a Diners’ Choice award in 2022.
Noir Dark Spirits - Scranton, PA (2021): Noir Dark Spirits is a tapas bar in Scranton with a goth-themed interior and menu. Opened in 2021, the bar specializes in fine cocktails and boasts a menu with contemporary cuisine. The menu contains foods with names that reference different horror/macabre popular media in keeping with the dark theme, such as Texas Flatbread Massacre, Phlebotomist Dough Injections, and Vampire Slayer Tacos.
Pampered Palate Cafe and Bistro - Meadville, PA (2021): Opened in 2003, Pampered Palate Cafe and Bistro is a local cafe in Meadville that specializes in healthier options for the every day diet. The cafe offers specialty coffee drinks and fruit smoothies, as well as breakfast foods, sandwiches, salads, and other gluten free/vegan options. Despite the organic menu, Pampered Palate operates as a fast food place with a drive thru and online ordering system.
Pronio’s Market - Hershey, PA (2021): Pronio’s Market is a family-owned and operated grocery store that has been open since 1919, founded by Michele and Rose Pronio. Located in Hershey, Pronio’s began as a parlor market inside of their family home where they sold beans, brasseries, leather shoes, shoepeg corn, and more. The business rapidly expanded and eventually the store was moved to downtown Hershey in a separate building. Pronio’s is best known for its meat department, specifically its homemade stromboli, meatballs, and sausage.
Smoke and Pickles Artisan Butcher Shop - Mechanicsburg, PA (2021): Smoke and Pickles Artisan Butcher Shop is a meat shop opened in 2019 that specializes in pasture-raised, in-house butchered meats. The shop was founded by Chef David T. Mills III, a culinary arts professor who teaches in Central Pennsylvania, France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Mills learned the craft from his travels across Europe where he was taught old-world style and whole animal utilization, which inspired the traditional old-world style of the shop.
Summit Diner - Camp Hill, PA (2021): Summit Diner, now called Summit Family Restaurant, is an all-American family restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant is especially known for its hot dogs with various available toppings, such as chili sauce, sauerkraut, cole slaw, jalapeno peppers, sweet relish, hot pepper relish, horse radish, and more. The diner’s menu is especially extensive in its breakfast options with over three pages worth of breakfast foods, such as breakfast sandwiches, steak and eggs breakfasts, and omelets.
Twin Pies - Linesville, PA (2021): Twin Pies is a family-owned pie shop operating in downtown Linesville off of U.S. Route 6 and serves traditional homemade pies made from both new and old family recipes. The pie shop is especially known for its classic flavors: chocolate silk, key lime, and lemon meringue. Twin Pies, however, also offers cherry crumble, pumpkin, chocolate cream, peanut butter, sour cream apple, and many more flavors.
Venango General Store - Venango, PA (2021): Venango General Store was a family-operated restaurant in Venango that also functioned as a music venue, bar, and theater. The building was built in the 1800s and sustained its antique roots in its architecture. The store was best known for its homemade pickles and offered a full menu and catering service until it officially closed in late 2022.
2020
Bixler’s Lodge - Reading, PA (2020): Before Bixler’s Lodge became a restaurant, it was built and operated as a barn in the mid-1800s owned by the Krammer Organization, where they housed an old-style fire truck and farm animals. In 1931, James Bixler, Sr. bought the barn and transformed it into Bixler’s Lodge in 1934, and it remains one of the oldest historical restaurants in the area. Bixler’s provides a fine dining menu with specialties in PA Dutch meals, steaks, and seafood.
Broken Axe Brew House - Lock Haven, PA (2020): The Broken Axe Brew House is a gastropub located in Lock Haven that boasts a logging theme throughout. The lumber-inspired atmosphere pays homage to the local history, as the town of Lock Haven played a large role in Pennsylvania’s lumber movement. Broken Axe is best known for its modern spin on traditional cocktails and offers 34 taps, 26 of which are dedicated to beers, ciders, and other fermented drinks from throughout Pennsylvania.
Firehouse Tap & Grille - Meadville, PA (2020): Operating since 2015, Firehouse Tap & Grille is a bar and grill located inside an old firehouse. The firehouse was opened in 1914 as the Meadville Central Fire Station and operated there until 1999, when the station relocated across the street. The bar and grill boasts antiques and firefighter memorabilia throughout and specializes in serving barbecue.
2019
Brewerie at Union Station - Erie, PA (2019): Founded in 2006, the Brewerie at Union Station opened as Erie’s only brew pub and restaurant. The brewery’s most popular products are Uncle Jackson’s Blonde Ale, Apparition Amber Ale, and Railway Hefe Weizen wheat beer, but they also offer two monthly seasonal releases. Brewerie also boasts an eclectic menu with an assortment of nachos, tacos, soups, salads, burgers, sirloin, and more.
Elwood - Philadelphia, PA (2019): Elwood is a Pennsylvania Dutch restaurant in Philadelphia that opened in May 2019, dedicated to sharing Pennsylvania Dutch country cuisines and native ingredients. The restaurant was named after founder Chef Adam Diltz’s grandfather, Elwood Andreas, and centers its menu around the history of Pennsylvania’s food culture. Elwood’s menu features pierogies, asparagus soup, catfish and waffles, half duck, and more Pennsylvania-native delicacies.
Greystone Restaurant - Harrisburg, PA (2019): Greystone Public House is a restaurant in Harrisburg built in 1798 by one of Harrisburg’s earliest settlers, Godfrey Fritchey. The two-story fieldstone tavern sits on 25 acres of land and boasts a fine-dining menu with seafood influences, including Oyster on the Half Shell, Cast Iron Baked Crab Dip, and Lump Crab Cake. Greystone also offers catering services for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is available to rent for private events and specials.
Hickory Bridge Farm Restaurant - Orrtanna, PA (2019): Hickory Bridge Farm dates back to the late 1600s when the land was granted to the Declaration of Independence signer’s father, Charles Carroll, from the King of England. In the early 1960s, new owners Mr. and Mrs. Scott repurposed the barn into the farm-style restaurant it is today. The restaurant, decorated with farm-related antiques, provides menus catered to the season with different monthly selections but always includes house salad, spiced peaches, stewed apples, corn fritters, and vegetables.
Powerhouse Eatery - White Haven, PA (2019): Founded in 1989, Powerhouse Eatery was once a power plant, now repurposed into a contemporary restaurant. The eatery is an authentic American restaurant with a menu with finer spreads like Oyster on the Half Shell, crab & avocado hummus, lobster mac, cauliflower steak, and duck a’la orange. Powerhouse is also available to book for special events and private parties, seating up to 200 guests.
Quentin Tavern - Lebanon, PA (2019): Located in Lebanon, Quentin Tavern is an American restaurant located inside a historic redbrick manor. The menu is all-American, including classics like cheese curds, onion rings, macaroni and cheese, Caesar salad, and more. The tavern also has catering services located on the greens of the Fairview Golf Course.
Revival on Lincoln - Bellevue, PA (2019): Revival on Lincoln is an American fine-dining restaurant just outside of Pittsburgh. Opened in late 2018, the restaurant is part of a larger restoration project in Bellevue and is housed inside a three-story family home originally built in 1902. The menu offers finer courses like sliced tenderloin of pork tonnato, crab cake, penne bolognese, and lemon curd bar. Although Revival is only open in the evenings, it holds events that open the dining hall for tea, tea sandwiches, and other delicate meals.
Tavern Restaurant - State College, PA (2019): Opened in 1948, the Tavern Restaurant is a historic American restaurant with a finer menu based in State College. The restaurant offers separate lunch and dinner menus; the dinner menu not only boasts a more extensive entree selection but also includes a full cocktail menu with over 80 drinks. The Tavern offers fine dining meals like bolognese, truffle pea ravioli, shrimp & grits, harissa glazed salmon, and Australian wagyu steak.
U.S. Hotel Tavern - Hollidaysburg, PA (2019): The U.S. Hotel Tavern is a restaurant inside the historic U.S. Hotel, which was built in 1835 by John Dougherty. The hotel was rebuilt in 1886 after a fire destroyed the original building and established the brewery in the next-door building. The tavern boasts pre-Prohibition artifacts and early 1900s design, as well as an all-American pub menu that includes pub pretzels, drunken mushrooms, buffalo chicken mac ‘n cheese, and margherita pizza.
Vault Tap & Kitchen - Scranton, PA (2019): The Vault Tap & Kitchen was a gastropub (more officially known as a tap and kitchen) located on the west side of Scranton based inside what used to be the historic Electric City Bank. Opened in 2014, the drafts ranged from domestics to crafted beers and served as a musical venue for many local DJs, artists, and musicians. The Vault was best known for its wing buffet until it closed down in 2018.
2018
Barn at Allenberry - Boiling Springs, PA (2018): The Barn at Allenberry is an American restaurant based inside an actual former barn. The restaurant sustains the structure’s original barn frame, stone fireplace, wood transition, and rattan furniture. The Barn offers a brasserie-style menu that includes roasted duck breast, vegan stir fry, local wagyu burgers, and pork schnitzel sandwiches.
Black Powder Tavern - Wayne, PA (2018): The Black Powder Tavern is a restaurant whose history is rooted before the formation of the United States of America. The building in which the tavern is housed was built in 1746, and operated as a respite for travelers and then a rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and more leaders of the American Revolution. The Black Powder Tavern offers a menu with craft American fare, with beer-baked pretzel sticks, chicken wings, loaded potato chips, chicken pot pie, and more.
Historic Fairfield Inn - Fairfield, PA (2018): Operating since 1757, the Historic Fairfield Inn is a bed and breakfast that is just 7 miles from Gettysburg. Since 2020, the inn has been renamed to its original name, Mansion House, and has housed historical figures like Patrick Henry, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and General Robert E. Lee. The menu is a blend of fine dining and tavern fare, offering foods like Idaho salmon, bone-in pork chop, and Maryland crab cakes.
Millworks - Harrisburg, PA (2018): Millworks is a restaurant in Harrisburg that is housed inside what was formerly The Stokes Millworks, a factory that produced trims, wood products, and laments in the 1940s. The restaurant serves farm-fresh local fare, offering meals like brisket pierogies, raw-milk mac n cheese, deviled eggs, and farmhouse pasta. Millworks also boasts a full bar and art galleries for visitors to tour while enjoying their local delicacies.
Revere Tavern - Paradise, PA (2018): Based in Paradise, Revere Tavern was a family-owned, old-fashioned American restaurant hosted inside a stone tavern built in 1740. The restaurant was opened in 1964 but permanently closed in October 2022. Revere’s menu boasted finer meals like clams, Atlantic Salmon, and salmon salad, as well as tavern fare like burgers, brisket sandwiches, and fish & chips.
Union Canal House - Hershey, PA (2018): Dating back to 1751, the Union Canal House was a historic American restaurant in Hershey. The restaurant initially served soldiers who were fighting the French and Indian War, and retained its history to create a rustic dining hall. The Union Canal House was best known for American steak and seafood, but also served salads, crab cake, and fried calamari. Union eventually closed in March 2020.
