Focus on Aging Adults

From Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, this episode of Focus on Aging Adults will discuss what cities are doing to make their communities more livable for residences of all ages.

It’s estimated that nearly 90,000 grandparents in Pennsylvania are raising their grandchildren because their parents are unfit or unable to raise the children themselves. On this episode of Focus on Aging Adults, we’ll discuss the growing epidemic of grandparents raising grandchildren with guests from AARP of PA, the State House of Representatives, and Penn State University.

This month’s episode of Focus on Aging Adults will cover the funding of older adult services in Pennsylvania with guests from AARP of Pennsylvania, PA Association of Area Agencies on Aging, and the PA Homecare Assocaition. 

Utility companies across Pennsylvania are proposing a variety of changes to consumer’s bills and service. Guests from AARP of PA, the PA Utility Law Project, and a small business advocate will discuss these propositions, and provide updates for consumers so they are aware of what to look out for on their next utility bill. 

Tax season is an easy time to fall victim to a scam. This episode will discuss how to protect yourself from scams and what to do if you are a victim.

Community HealthChoices is a state mandated program designed to help individuals navigate their Medicaid benefits and long-term health options. The program focuses on keeping seniors in their homes longer, and hopes to stream-line the distribution of services.
