Who We Are
PCN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit television network dedicated to educating, connecting, and celebrating Pennsylvania's past, present, and future through cable television and streaming platforms.
PCN strives to ensure that all Pennsylvanians have access to unfiltered content that reflects their communities' daily lives and interests. PCN's content focuses on the state's rich history and cultural significance, current events like the PIAA Championships, and unbiased access to state leadership and government activities.
Founded in 1979 as the nation's first educational cable television network, PCN was on the air before CNN, ESPN, MTV, TNT, USA Network, Fox News, MSNBC, and nearly all other nationally distributed cable networks.
Its purpose was to provide a cable television network as a public service for the distribution of educational programming by Pennsylvania institutions of higher learning under the leadership of Penn State University.
