Fireworks Law with Rep. Frank Farry

Setting off fireworks often means inconvenience for someone.   Sometimes it’s a farmer whose livestock are spooked by the noise,  sometimes it’s a person who’s just trying to get to sleep.  Rep. Frank Farry ‘s bill requires notification of certain parties in the event a fireworks show is planned.  May 18, 8pm.

Right-to-Know Law with Rep. Lou Schmitt

Rep. Lou Schmitt, Republican from Blair county, believes Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know law of 2009 is due for changes.  He says updates are needed to ensure the public obtains information, while government agencies get the protection they need for their vital information.  May 9, 8pm.

School Tuition Vouchers with PA State Education Assoc.

The PA House approved a bill that offers school tuition vouchers to students in the bottom 15% of Pennsylvania’s worst-performing schools.  Rich Askey, President of the PA State Education Association, says the proposal takes money away from the schools that need it the most, and lacks accountability.   May 11, 8pm.

Nursing Home Accountability with Sen. Maria Collett

Senator Maria Collett, Minority Chair of the Aging and Youth Committee, has announced a package of bills that she says will give greater transparency, accountability, and support for staff in nursing homes.  One bill calls for sending 75% of nursing home funding to direct bedside care.  April 27, 8pm.

Small Business Assistance, February 21, 9:30 pm

Senator John Yudichak, chair of the Community and Economic Development Committee,  found out at a public hearing just how difficult conditions have become for the state’s lodging, restaurant, and bar industries.   Two Senate bills were discussed that could mean relief in the form of loans and grants.

PA Counties Budget Priorities, February 23, 8pm

Governor Tom Wolf has presented his new state budget proposal for this year into 2023.  Lisa Schaefer, Executive Director of the County Commissioners Association of PA, explains the impact of the proposal on all sixty-seven counties.  An item they’re watching closely is investment in mental health services.  February 23, 8pm.
