Pennsylvanians went to the polls this week to select candidates for the November election. Seven seats on statewide appellate courts were on the ballot- one Supreme Court seat, four Superior Court seats and two on Commonwealth Court. Of the 14 primary election winners, eight are women. Also this week, former Sen. Bob Mellow is seeking to have his pension restored after serving time for a felony conspiracy to commit mail fraud charge for using staff for political purposes. That and predictions about what will happen next with the state budget and revenue streams like gambling expansion and the proposed $25 PA State Police services fee for municipalities with no local police force were discussed.
