Two Pennsylvania World War II veterans whose stories appear in the books “World War II: In Their Own Words” and “World War II Reflections” tell of their experiences at a special event to be held at the Pennsylvania Military Museum on Business Route 322 in Boalsburg on Wednesday, May 19, beginning at 10:30 AM.
Hank Heim of New Cumberland, and Grant Lee of Enola recount their wartime experiences during this special event presented by the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) and Nittany Media. An audience Q&A session will follow the presentations. The public is invited. Light refreshments will be served.
Mr. Heim, a bomber pilot, flew more than 75 missions on a B-17 Flying Fortress as a member of the 2nd Bomb Group and was wounded in Pearl Harbor. Mr. Lee, a gunner on a LST, transported men and supplies for the D-Day invasion. Lee also served in the invasion of Okinawa.
Both “World War II: In Their Own Words” and “World War II Reflections” are collections of interviews with Pennsylvania World War II veterans from all branches of the service. The books are based on the award-winning television series on PCN titled “World War II: In Their Own Words,” which consists of more than 200 hours of discussions with veterans from all branches of the armed services.
“World War II: In Their Own Words” is also available as a audio book version with 10 CDs containing nearly 10 hours of discussions with veterans in their own voices. For more information, or to hear a sample chapter of the audio book, visit http://www.pcntv.com/wwii/index.html
