STATEWIDE CARRIAGE OF PCN:

The Pennsylvania Cable Network is 3 million homes strong, thanks to participating cable television companies who have voluntarily created a service reaching all corners of the commonwealth. Three out of every four cable households in Pennsylvania (or ten million of the Keystone State’s twelve million residents) receive network programming.

The PCN participating company name, system location, and network channel designation are listed on the bottom of this page. Please note that cable companies often serve contiguous townships and boroughs — Comcast in State College, for example, additionally serves cable subscribers in Bellefonte, Centre Hall, Milesburg, Tyrone, and other municipalities.

If you are a local cable company wishing to launch PCN service, contact Michelle Harter, Director of Corporate Communications at (717) 730-6000, or send her an e-mail.

PCN – ONLY ON CABLE:

While Pennsylvania cable television companies give PCN virtually universal support, The Dish Network and DIRECTV have expressed little or no interest to add PCN to their local channel lineup. To watch PCN, contact your local cable company. If you live in an area where cable is not available, please contact your satellite provider and urge them to add PCN to their lineup.

PCN is a non-profit, non-commercial network that has been provided as a public service for more than 30 years by Pennsylvania cable television companies. It is through their support  that PCN’s operation and programming is made possible without the use of federal or state funding.

**** It has come to our attention that satellite providers are giving their current or prospective customers some inaccurate information about PCN.****

If you have called or written a satellite provider about carriage of PCN and have been told by the provider that, “to date, we haven’t been able to reach an agreement with PCN. We have negotiated in good faith with the management of PCN, and we believe we have made a fair and reasonable offer…” – this is simply not true. Please be aware – no satellite provider is in negotiation with PCN nor are we slated to be launched on satellite. In fact, requests made by satellite customers have prompted PCN to inquire with the satellite industry, but those providers have expressed no interest to carry PCN.

PCN is available on cable systems throughout Pennsylvania serving 3.3 million subscribers and is not available through any dish service. PCN – Only on Cable.

CABLE NEWS:

PCN TO BE LAUNCHED ON ATLANTIC BROADBAND IN MIFFLIN AND UNION COUNTIES

Starting February 28, Atlantic Broadband subscribers in Mifflin and Union counties, will see a new network on their cable lineup. PCN, the Pennsylvania Cable Network, will be found on channel 12 in the Boroughs of Derry and Decatur in Mifflin County as well as the following Union County communities which includes Harleton and Mifflinburg boroughs and Buffalo, Hartley, Lewis, Limestone and West Buffalo townships.

This launch will allow subscribers to catch state legislative sessions, new “PCN Tours,” as well as the upcoming exclusive March PIAA state championships for wrestling, swimming/diving and basketball.

“Atlantic Broadband is proud to bring PCN to our customers in Mifflinburg and Derry, PA,” said Dave Dane, Senior Vice President of Operations.  “The programming is about and for the people of Pennsylvania – I’m confident that our customers will enjoy this quality programming,” continued Dane.

Blue Ridge Communications Launches PCN HD

Blue Ridge Communications has announced the addition of Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) HD to their current list of high definition offerings. The channel is now available to Blue Ridge cable subscribers across the state with HD offerings. PCN HD can be found on channel 624 of the Blue Ridge lineup. Blue Ridge Communications is now the first cable operator in the state to offer PCN’s additional service.

PCN was able to purchase new equipment needed to make the conversion for high definition telecasts thanks to tax-exempt financing. This financing, along with continued funding from cable operators from across the state like Blue Ridge, is aiding the nonprofit statewide public affairs network to continue providing quality productions as part of its public service mission to more than 10 million Pennsylvanians in 3.3 million homes. PCN began transmitting its HD signal on August 1.

“We are extremely pleased that Blue Ridge Communications has furthered their commitment to our nonprofit public affairs service by offering PCN HD,” notes PCN President/CEO, Brian Lockman. “As one of the creators of PCN, it is even more exciting to see them lead us into the future by being the first of our cable partners to offer this quality additional service.”

Known by many as the “C-SPAN of Pennsylvania,” PCN televises live, unedited gavel-to-gavel coverage of the state’s General Assembly including committee hearings, press conferences, and speeches. “Blue Ridge Communications is fully committed to increasing our HD lineup and is proud to be the first cable operator to launch PCN HD and bring the importance of our state’s public affairs to our customers in HD,” says Mark Masenheimer, Vice President of Operations.

Service Electric Cablevision Launches PCN HD

Service Electric Cablevision, Inc. has announced the upcoming addition of Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) HD to their current list of high-definition offerings.  The channel will be made available to all Service Electric Cablevision (SECV) cable subscribers across the state with SECV’s HD product offering.

Starting Friday, September 23, PCN HD will be seen in Bloomsburg, Shamokin, and Sunbury on channel 517, while channel 523 will be the home for PCN HD in the communities of Birdsboro and Kutztown.  PCN HD will also be made available on channel 520 on the Hazleton lineup.

PCN moves to digital in Comcast service areas

Comcast is now delivering PCN digitally in certain areas of the state.

Channel Designations

PCN is a non-profit statewide public affairs network which receives neither state nor federal funding.  Pennsylvania cable companies voluntarily carry our programming on their systems.  Without the generous support and friendship of the following participating cable partners, PCN’s  programming would not be possible.
