Gateway Gators (6-0) overall (4-0) WPIAL AAAA Foothills Conference – Gateway has 4 players committed to Division 1 programs (2 to Ohio State, Indiana, & Miami of Ohio) Is the unanimous selection as the best (AAAA) team in the state and is ranked #3 in the country by USA Today. ESPN has them ranked as the #4 team in the country. Gateway has outscored its opponents 278-38 this season and 177-15 in non-conference play. The Gators are coached by Terry Smith former Penn State WR (class of 92). Terry Smith is in his 7th season as Head Coach and has compiled a record of 65-18.

Players to watch:

LB Dorian Bell (6’0” 227 Sr.)
Ranked as the #1 weakside LB in the country by Scout.com. Bell has given a verbal to Ohio State. At fullback Bell has carried the ball 20 times this season for 459 yards and 10 TD’s for a staggering 22 yards per carry. On defense Bell has 47 tackles this season

CB/ WR Corey Brown (6’1” 185 Sr.)
Brown has given a verbal to Ohio State. He is ranked as the #8 CB in the nation by Scout.com. As a wide receiver, Brown has 22 catches for 386 yards and 10 TD’s.

QB Robert Kalkstein (5’10” 165 Jr.)
Kalkstein is in his 3rd year as the starting QB. Kalkstein has completed 63 of 79 passes for 818 yards and 12 TD’s.

OL Colin Rodkey (6’5” 266 Sr.)
Has committed to Indiana University. Rodkey anchors both sides of the line.

DE B.J. Stevens (6’2” 235 Sr.)
Stevens has given a verbal to Miami (Ohio). Stevens has 34 tackles this season

S Jeff Parrish (5’10” 195 Sr.)
Parrish is receiving some Division 1 interest . On defense he has tallied 30 tackles.

RB/DB Brian Williams (5’7” 155 Sr.)
Williams leads the rushing attack with 62 carries for 436 yards and 6 TD’s.

Erie McDowell Trojans (4-2) overall – The Trojans have a dynamic backfield with QB A.J. Fenton and RB Alex Schmude. McDowell will run the ball heavily with these two speedsters. The Trojans are led by 2nd year head coach Mark Soboleski and he has an overall record of 10-7.

Players to watch:

QB/ DB A.J. Fenton (6’2”210 Sr.)
Fenton has given a verbal commitment to play @ Wisconsin. A.J. Fenton is ranked as the 16th best Strong Side LB in the country by Scout.com. Last week vs Latrobe (District 7) Fenton ran for 283 yards on 20 carries and 2 TDs, giving him 3,150 yards and the career rushing record @ McDowell. For the season, Fenton has 94 carries for 876 yards and 13 TD’s. At QB, he has completed 13 of 29 passes for 340 yards and 4 TD’s.

TB/DB Alex Schmude (5’10” 180 Sr.)
Alex Schmude is having a great season with 10 rushing TD’s . Last week he ran all over Latrobe for 291 yards on 14 carries and 4 TD’s. This season, Schmude has totaled 924 yards on 75 carries and 10 TD’s.
