February 11: Liquor Privatization with Mark Tanczos

Beer distributors are concerned about the governor’s plan to sell the state liquor stores.   Mark Tanczos, President of the Malt Beverage Distributors of PA, says the plan includes a special license for distributors that would allow them to sell six-packs.  The cost of the license for family-owned beer retailers, however, would be much higher than the same license for supermarkets.  He says the governor’s plan would put his members out of business.

It looks like Corbett wants to sell the liquor stores but keep the profits.  Beer distributors won’t have a chance to survive.

If corbett wants to pass the bill, he needs make sure the rules favor the PA family owned businesses rather than out of state big corporations

The bill is largely skewed towards interests of giant eagle / walmart / etc. What about the beer distributors???
