May 30: Business Influence on Lawmaking with Michael Morrill

Michael Morrill says some bills in our legislature originate from a group called the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).   He says they draft “model” legislation that benefits the interests of their corporate supporters.  With lawmaker sponsorship, the bills become real and often enter the legislative process.  Critics say ALEC ignores the will of average citizens, and supporters say it’s democracy in action.
