December 13th and 15th: PIAA Football Championships

The 2013 fall sports championship season will conclude on the PCN with exclusive LIVE coverage of the PIAA football championships on Friday, December 13  and Sunday, December 15 Games originally scheduled for Saturday, December 14th have been postponed  because of weather. The following is a tentative schedule for all of PCN’s football championship coverage.  Airtimes for encore presentations are determined by game length.

Once again, Bob McCool will provide play-by-play  for PCN during the state football finals along color commentator Ross Tucker and sideline reporter Steve Degler.

Bob McCool has been calling high school, college and professional sports for over 20 years.  Now in his tenth year of doing play by play for PCN.  McCool has called the PIAA football, boys basketball and boys and girls soccer state championships since 2006.

Ross Tucker is best known for his work in the media as the lead NFL columnist for the Sporting News, host of the Ross Tucker Football Podcast and on SiriusXM NFL Radio, and a television analyst for NBCSN and the YES Network.  Prior to his broadcasting duties, Tucker played in the NFL for seven years as an offensive lineman.  He is a native Pennsylvanian that was a two-time Academic All-American at Princeton.  He follows high school football year round as the Founder & CEO of GoBigRecruiting.com.

Steve Degler is in his sixth year as the sideline reporter for PCN’s coverage of the PIAA football championships. He has also provided play-by-play on PCN for broadcasts of state championships in baseball, girls’ basketball and softball.  Degler has been the color analyst on Service Electric’s Lehigh Valley IronPigs Television Network and the play-by-play announcer for Service Electric’s coverage of the Reading Fightin Phils for the last five baseball seasons. Prior to that, he spent 17 seasons as the radio broadcaster for the Reading Phillies. Degler also was a substitute host of the pre-game and post-game shows on the Philadelphia Phillies Radio Network for two seasons.  A graduate of Kutztown University, Degler and his wife, Karen, reside in the Reading area with their daughters Sarah and Hannah.
